Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Not that I really want to tell this as it embarrassing, but I was a cutter way back in my high school years I think 9th or 10th grade back before it became a fad for teens. I look back and don't even know why I did it other than very low self-esteem. It is a known sign of molestation but like I said way before kids just did it to fit in. I got much needed help as someone seen it and helped me. My oldest son was a cutter and I always ask if he's been molested but won't tell. My oldest daughter was a cutter and had been molested. I don't want to scare you by telling you this but it can be a sign and not all cutters have been. I just get alarmed the first time I hear of anyone cutting as their is help out there if it's noticed. I'd get her into councelling if you haven't already for sure.

We just got 2 juvenile bearded dragons at work. 110 degrees in the basking spot, no sand or other substrate that they can swallow on the floor, reptisun 10.0 bulb for their UVB, 40 gallon tank minimum. Dust the crickets once a week with repivite. They should eat 20-50 crickets per day! I also have Fluker's Reptiboost on hand for when they aren't eating and need a little help nutritionally. Offer greens after a few months old. NO spinach, it's toxic. Kale is best. Then as they get older, they will eat other things. Like baby food. My brother has a huge one that they let run around the house sometimes. They are actually fairly easy to take care of. The initial investment in their lighting and housing is pretty large though. I think tortoises can be a little more sensitive diet wise. If you feed them wrong (most commercial tortoise feeds are not healthy) you're going to run into problems like deformed shells. My brother also has a sulcata tortoise. lol We had a 6 ft green iguana that roamed the house when we were kids and I used to have carpet chameleons. I actually got them to breed, but then did nothing with the eggs once she layed them. I would love to get into raising them again. We have crested geckos now, but the female hasn't layed any eggs.
Yvette you sound like you love reptiles like me! Yes the tortoises have been a challenge...I spent more $$ on organic lettuces for them in the winter than for us! I got this bag of weed seeds to grow WEEDS for them! LOL--who in their right mind buys weed seeds?

Thanks BBP. I definitely don't understand but we know that we need to protect her from herself at the moment and get her help.

Good luck to you guys and hugs to your daughter! At least you know about it now. My friend's daughter did that too and she never knew---always wore long sleeves. She's OK now though.

Heading off to work--have a good one! TErriO

(PS) stuffed cabbage sounds wonderful!

So sorry to hear about the situation with your daughter chickenscratch!! Teens often resort to this in a way to deal with buried emotions (anger, pain), or to "feel" when their feel emotionally barren/unable to feel or express emotions, providing them temporary relief. One of the best pieces of advice is to find her someone she is comfortable to talk to and that is available whenever she needs them. Can you look into getting her a "Big Sister"? Is there an Aunt or family member she is close to? I would also find a therapist for her. I used to work with teens and one of them was a cutter. He said he liked to be able "to feel" and made him not have to deal with thoughts about his biological parents. Hugs and prayers to you and your daughter

Really? No one has been on here in 9 hrs?????
Thanks everyone for your support for DD12. We have contacted a therapist and hope to start counselling for her this week. Until then, she is spending a lot of time with us!
Also thanks to you all for dog training advise. I had a great conversation with cuties tonight and worked out a plan.
Our rabbits have found a way under the hardware cloth and have dug a den.Ugh! I've got to get out there again poop deep.
Is anyone else noticing inconsistencies with eggs per day? I've got the lite on and that helped for a bit. I'm wondering if the temp swing is effecting their lay cycle?
Is everyone ready for a really cold and snowy winter? I'd say to prep for a duplicate of last year. Yes,I said"it".

Hi All!

Wow.... sure was a short day on here!

Well, a couple of traps are set and tomorrow (or soon) the guy is going to talk to the neighbors to set trap there too. He did find turkey remains so he set the traps near by.

When I waddled to the back to see where he set the traps I sat for a moment a few yards from the compost pile. I noticed something odd hanging from the branches of the cut down dead ceder tree. Took the walker and waddled closer..... it looked like small watermelons! I picked a bunch, gave a couple to the trapper and brought the rest in. After supper I cut one open..... not watermelon! Looks like I got the results of some strange squash cross breeding. I cooked a slice up and it ain't bad at all! I think it will make a nice stuffed squash. Smells like pumpkin.

I think there's 18-20 all toll. Any clues?

Night All!

Hey Cheeseheads, anyone have any luck deer or bear hunting yet? I had a friend of a friend of a friend say that the deer and bear don't have much fat reserves this year. Anyone notice the fat reserves on anything they harvested yet?
I'm not hunting this year, so I won't be able to check.

good morning,
I'm still alive,, got a new computer provider,, DSL Frontier,, much better that the former "silo" provider.. who, wants us to pay half of our contract for dropping them,, we wrote them a letter and told them that we would take it to a lawyer .. they breached the contract first by the lousy service.. after all, if their service would have been up to par, we wouldn't have gone looking for somebody else..

had a guinea buyer not show up on time yesterday,, I waited an hour and a half, and then had to go to an anniversary party.. they did show up some time after I left, .. they called from in their car , left a message,, I could hear the dogs barking in the background.. so sorry, next time show up on time, or at least call..

I kept both dogs tied up all night,, Frankie did not like that at all.. tough titty ..

I am thinking of a buried fence, or training collars.. I have the training collars already, but need the right opportunity to use them..

I want to do some late fall fishing,, rigged two rods for walleyes; two different ways,, ..slip bobber on one, egg sinker on the other..

Cind, looks like your pumpkins got too close to a watermelon blossom,,

hope you catch that wiley ole coyote..

My SO got a yr & 1/2 doe, and she had some, but not the amount I'm used to seeing. But then, it was bow, & I'm more of a gun season person. So idk if time of year matters for fat reserves.
