Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning,

I just sent the last of the puppies to her new home.. in Oshgosh ..soon to

her name is Gretchen,.. the lady said it was either Angel or Gretchen.. I said I liked Gretchen, and that was that ..

Now I can spend all my time training Zeke.. no interruptions from the other pup..

I made up my mind that If this lady did not take her, I would have kept her..

I get all burned out dealing with people, no shows and hagglers ..

going to mow lawn today,, then work on my mower so I can mow MY lawn/hay field....

Beautiful July Day....good for you selling the pups Jim...yep, people are the reason I quit raising and selling pure breed dogs.

My young buckeyes are turning out mostly cockerals . Out of 15 it looks like prolly 9 are little punks.
They, at least most of them, will be going to the freezer for soup or noodles. It will take a while longer to put on enough meat. The heritage breeds take longer to develop.

The garden is finally giving up a lot of stuff...grape tomatoes, broccoli, cukes, onions, beets, and a second radish crop.....tonight, it's one of those Reynold's hot bags on the grill with a large pork loin roast with added stuff from the garden...whole onions, almost baseball size, a couple carrots, a couple baking size potatoes, couple cylindra beets and a couple carrots....hoping for perfection...

good afternoon.

...
Meet Zeke.. he is just 3 months old ..
I'm surprised he sat long enough for this picture..

...
this is a more typical shot,, he wouldn't stay away from me,,

One of my older hens (the one who survived the predator attack) has decided to go broody. She sits in the favorite nest all day so the others have to sit next to her or on top of her to lay an egg. The main problem with her broodiness is that I don't have roosters who are mature enough to give me viable eggs yet. She's turned into a real hussy and fights tooth and nail to stay put. SMH!!

The battle with the groundhogs is on again. I noticed a fresh dig under the wood pile. They're inside the fence again - hopefully not for long. Tomorrow morning I'm fetching another bottle of ammonia. It's amazing how they can dig underground and come up in just the right place. Another foot and they'd have come up outside the fence. SMH again!

PS- I have 5 BLRW roosters for sale - at least until I can find someone locally who can outfit them for freezer camp. They're beauties. Pictures will follow if I can get them to stand still long enough!

Would any be good to use for breeding? I've been looking for one all year. Even threw one of my Salmon Faverolle boys in with them to see if I can make a meat bird, waiting on the first eggs yet to set though. If I can get the weight of the Buckeye in the size of these SF boys they should be huge.
