Dang...Angiebubs, I've been missing you....we worry about our cheeseheads that get lost you know!

Happy to hear that all is good by you....nothing but the best wishes!

Busy in the garden today...another bushel of maters headed toward the canner.

Beautiful Sept day here......way to go Irish with the produce stand. I grow enough to have one, but don't want to deal with the people.

Anybody here want to give 3 beautiful male Pekin ducks a new home. I don't have the heart to butcher them and I have too many boys for my one girl. They are 8 to 9 months old. I am hoping to add another girl but these boys have got to go soon.

The people have been awesome! One woman gushed so much over my cut flowers (that my SIL skillfully arranged) that I almost blushed. My last customer of the day handed me $3 for a purchase that totaled $1.50 and said, "Close enough". An added bonus is that it gets new people browsing in the antique store. My neighbor, who owns the Red Mill, wants to move up a notch from the coffee/ice cream shop to a restaurant next year and said he wants to buy his produce from me. Methinks the produce stand was a good investment!

T o help you out, I would take them , but I would butcher them..

I mowed some more and ran out of gas again,, tomorrow I will have to fill up a 5 gal can.. lots of lawn begging to be mowed, yet..

I mowed and re-mowed the strip along the driveway.. I will give it a couple of days for the grass/hay to really dry out, and then I will mow again,,

corn is ripening fast , now with this warm weather.. will have to freeze about 50 pints to get us through until next corn season.. we have two packages left from last year's crop..

I can feel an apple pie coming soon,, and Annie picked enough raspberries today , for two pies.

Hi All!

Wow Irish, that's great about the stand!

Angie... good to see your doing well.

Can't wait for this weather to break! I not a fan of cold, but this humidity is not doing me any good. I got stuff to do! DH said the truck is finally fixed, now I got to find some straw!

That's it.... Night All!

Good afternoons everybody in WI! I'm in the antigo area and it's been mid 80's. Anyone else's chickens turn off the production a bit ?! Good luck getting that plucker done. I hope to raise some Cornish x next year for butcher. They're unbelievable compared to store bought

Welcome! :)
Hello fellow Cheeseheads :) Newbie chicken owner here. We just got 5 hens and a rooster last Saturday, 11 weeks old now, special blacks originally from Sunnyside hatchery. All seems to be going well and we are loving our birds!
Welcome!
Here's my new addition to the store. Air conditioned and insulated (and also a bear to open and close by myself). I guess I'm now a serious gardener, eh? Right now I have potatoes, beans, tomatoes, mini pumpkins, 5 kinds of squash, carrots, poblano & jalapeno peppers, cut flowers, lettuce and kale. Soon I will have sweet corn, melons, and pie pumpkins. The danged groundhog is still taking his cut but it could be a lot worse. The deer are at bay - they did the most damage previously.
Very nice! I love seeing everyone's projects!
I haven't been working too hard the past few days as the heat is really getting to me. I went over to the Marshfield fair Wednesday and watched the poultry judging and was very impressed with their cage set up, the cleanliness of barn and birds. Great job they are doing, now if our barn could look like that I would be ecstatic. I did get the "sitting room" floor framed and will be working on the bathroom and Anellias room next after I move a bunch of crap out of my way. Neighbor is coming early this morning, anytime after 6am to lift the roof on which I've been waiting for a few days so I can start putting floor down and not have to worry about rain ruining it. I can also work on some of the stud walls once floor is down. My main goal is to get the floor framed and outer walls on as I can work on the inside anytime once those things are done. I'm currently contemplating hooking up sewer and using an outhouse(or one of the 2 bathrooms in the other house) as I can run the kitchen, bathroom and laundry drains out on the ground as it's clean wastewater. It would save me a ton of time, money and aggravation doing it this way. Another neighbor(my hay guy) has a falling in barn who let me take barn boards last fall for the chicken coop build(on in the way back on right) has given me the go ahead to take ANYTHING I want off the barn for this project. I'm so excited as I did want the entire outside rustic and part of the inside also. Anyhow I'll keep posting updates as I move along with this huge project.
You are incredibly ambitious. That looks amazing! My roo has started to learn to crow! It sounds more like a dying howl at the moment... he has already started trying to court the ladies but they will not yet have any of his lovin'. They are about 16, 17 weeks. Should I be expecting eggs soon?

It doesn't look too amazing right now as I made a major screw up and measured the silo wrong, its about a foot less diameter than I thought. After taking 2 days break trying to figure out how to fix it, I've decided I'm taking out the door panel and off the East end(front door entrance) and putting in a dormer with deck.(It will be my accidental deer stand, haha) Today will hopefully work on securing the top to the 4x4's enough I can split it to secure the rest but dang this heat is a killer. I couldn't do nothing but get angry yesterday as I had no help to twist the top around to line it into place I decided to hook on my "blue" coop with my truck an drag it into the horse pasture which I intend on fencing to extend my chicken run as the geese and ducks are eating the grass down too far. Once I get the fence done hopefully today they will be quite happy as the pasture is about 2 feet tall with clover, trefoil, alfalfa and other great grass. Photo option is not working to put up pics.
