Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Nice day to everyone...yep, that was a fun read drake. It sounds like a lot of Jim's stories when he had a large flock of them. You can be from Wisconsin firstchic and still hate snow....I'm proof of that.

Fish sale in town today..10lb box of haddock for $30....that will provide a few FFF in the future.

I should do something outside today...gonna need some ambition first though.

How are the giants for laying hartland? I prefer the brown eggs for no special reason.

bigzio. I've encountered that there seems to be a wide space of time difference of when hens will start laying. I've tried to piece together how the time of year affects them but I do everything to counter that and it still seems unexplainable to me. I've had hens start at laying at 6 months in the dead of winter and I've had hens hold out for up to 10 in beautiful weather. My breeding will hope control this better without giving up anything that makes them big n beautiful. When they start laying though I've been very impressed. Doesn't take egg size very long to blow out anything u can buy in the store. Many hens I've had, u would have never known they just laid their first egg. It's already a very good size egg. Eggs will come on fast in the good seasons and I know alot of mine will give 5 a week steady if all's well with the flock n coop. 4 is more the median and a few suspects at 3 or alternating with a productive week. Into the winter has been another thing that got me a little bit more impressed with them. They will keep laying a fair amount even when I know there isn't enough light for alot of birds to do so. I give them light but sometimes that doesn't help when they still can tell the outside length of day since they go out n roam in the snow as well. It will drop down but not as bad as I ever thought they would. So all in all I'd say I get a 250 average. Few of my favorites I'd like to say it's more than that but I won't push it. Lol Just ball parking since I've never counted obviously n with my flock it's still more than enough for me to eat n use, that's all I wanted from them. There is no problems with enough eggs from these birds. I don't sell eggs but every now n then I give some dozens away to still get them used. There is definitely better breeds to give u piles more eggs but I don't desire that. I stay a quality over quantity kinda guy n if wanted more I'd just hatch me a few more girls. Lol Oh yes they do lay light brown. Had some throw light speckling and some a lighter cream. The egg on the left of not white, my camera is not the best. But that is the biggest sex link egg my friend had in his fridge at the moment and the other 3 I just grabbed from my coop today. The 3 most different ones I seen. The middle darkest one is speckled lightly, and the right one is a warm cream color.

Good information hartland....I don't know why I thought they laid white eggs... I stand corrected on my brain fart.

It's been awhile since they caught you red handed bl4...I say go for it in town and wake the mis-advised city council up again..they are do for another eye opener and round two....seriously!

The wild turkeys are getting hungrier now....we had 17 hens in the backyard feeder this afternoon. One hen had about a 8" beard...they were fighting over some cob corn I place out daily with the other bird feed.

Big game tomorrow.....I hope the Dever D can show up and pull off a win for Manning....but I won't hold my breath.

Someone else already has without success.

Of course, one block over people are keeping a flock. I would prefer to move first instead of wasting my time and energy with pigheaded stubborn people who choose to remain ignorant.

Jim, do you still breed budgies?

Yes, these are advertised on TV.
we have the big one,, Annie has been trying to get the smaller one but they are always back ordered..

I almost hit a dead turkey on the road this morning, I saw it at the last second and straddled it.

Is it going to be another slow conversation day here again today ?

///////jiminwisc.......
The only one advertized on TV is the 9", I went to the website, but, could only find the 9".....how did she get it?

the budgies and cockatiels are Annie's department,
she has so many that she discourages any hatching,
how many do you want ?
If it were up to me, I would give them away.
as it is, she has the price very low..
