Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Tax day for us - we're off to have our taxes prepared. Hopefully we'll elect someone who will help get our taxes simplified and maybe even streamline or get rid of the IRS. One can only hope...

dream on,it doesn't matter who gets elected.
our government has checks and balances.
the IRS answers to nobody .. it is merely a collection agency.

Busy Sunny Day today. A lot of running around mostly. Took suzie to the hospital for more testing and then a little shopping...that took care of most of the day. Just arrived home from the monthly meeting at Camp...plenty going on there for projects to be worked on.

Yep, Monday is my date with the tax advisor....she is really sharp and makes it quite painless for us....we fill out the worksheet, and provide all the paperwork....easy peasy actually. I'm hoping for a refund like most folks. One can always live with money back instead of paying in. It's the way I like it anyway.

My seed order is in the mail, and visions of tilled soil are dancing in my brain. The smell of the fresh soil is always a good flavor in my nose. I'm always happy in the garden and love spending hours there.

Nothing new here either Cind.

Hellooooo!

Still fighting foxes here (and hawks and other things that go bump in the night)... I'm down to 6 of my original 50 chickens (six years old now and still laying). Trying to see how long these original chickens will keep producing. (They were from Sandhill Preservation Center.) Otherwise, I've added to my flock every year. Can't supply enough eggs to those who want and appreciate them.

I have a silkie sitting on four eggs.

We had a power outage for a couple of hours several weeks ago, and although we corrected the time on the automatic doors, we didn't think about correcting the time on the timer for the light. I don't know if that messed up the egg production or if it was something else, as I see others had a drop in production as well. It has been corrected for about a week now, so I'm hopeful they'll pick up again.

Have a good weekend everyone!!

Hey all got my eggs for the Easter hatch-a-long yesterday from mypetchicken(4 EE, 1 OE, 2 bcm) hoping for pullets. We'll be setting them today probably this evening. Along with slw eggs and a bunch of slw/buff orp, slw/EE, slw/Isa brown(DH2B want these, he's convinced we're gunna breed a super chicken), as well as silkies. I can't wait! And as long as he's excited why not hatch a couple slw/Isa brown mixes too.

Also have 6 chicks (5 English Orpingtons, and one white sport legbar) from Junibutt on the Illinois thread hoping for lots of pullets.

Gunna be a busy month with Easter, DR's appointments, hatching eggs, and weaning down the flock.

@celtic chick two of the chicks are chocolate pullets and when they're mature and I've got the roo from you(if he's still available) I can breed and hatch my own mauves or that's what I'm told. :)

Oh I've also had a few birds toying with the idea of being broody but no commitments yet. I did have a silkie in the nest box so I'm hoping she's wanting to give it a try, but I admit she's not my brightest silkie. Last time she thought about brooding she sat 6 inches to a foot away from the eggs lol

Hey,, those eggs are hard and lumpy,, the nest was softer over there.. and you say she isn't smart .

I got 4 eggs so far today..

had do dig out a different base for the waterer, the one I patched with Gorilla Glue didn't hold. it did hold for over a week, though,.
I will attempt another patch, but next time I will use a piece of cloth as a binder, sort of like working with fiber glass..

still chilly here.. but I did not wear a coat. that is so nice to not have to put a coat on.

I will be working on the truck battery today..

@Daethen
Yep you will if all goes well.
:) you should see the mounds of cartons of hatching eggs on the counter awaiting sorting and setting :) if they're set this evening tomorrow will be day 1 and in 21 days hopefully we'll be overrun with peeps :)

@jvls1942
Lol you might have something there but in that case she's smart but will be a very poor broody lol I'm hoping it was an oops on her part and that she was just having problems finding the eggs BC of her crest but I admit its a thin excuse. Lol she's kind of a ditzy girl.

Sorry about the waterer. Hope the next patch holds for you.
