Yeah I guess its just unfortunate that this is happening during my first try. I initially got some chicks in the mail and they did not do well at all. I think they got too cold and they all passed within about a day. I then drove back to hatchery to avoid having them put in the mail and some of those chicks did much better. However here and there I still lose one. I had two flip on their backs suddenly and die. I called the hatchery and they said that means the chick had a heart attack and there was nothing I could do about that. Yesterday I think another chick choked on her feed? I'm not sure, but she's pretty weak today, but better then yesterday. Its just sad to watch them get sick and I feel like there is very little I can do about them getting sick. I guess I wish I was one of those lucky people who have 100% live on their first try!We all have had bad luck once or twice.
that is why we are banded here together, to help prevent such incidences .
getting chicks shipped in cold weather by the USPS is probably the worst situation for dead arrivals.
