Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I froze all my berries to deal with them at a later date. I have a gallon and a half of pure raspberry juice and 5 gallons more of berries to press. I'm not a fan of seeds in jam. Some people leave them in but to me most of the time it makes up half the jar

Yeah, I don't mind the pulp, but the seeds have no place in my jam either.
I was going to make some more black berry jelly, but Annie said we have more than enough pints left from the last time I made some. I have a tendency to go big or go home when it comes to canning..
No matter how many jars you can, the clean-up is the same, so I do one big day of whatever I am doing.
One year I did 90 quarts of tomatoes in one day.. they lasted for a couple of years for us..

Annie has enough raspberries in the freezer for a 5 gallon batch of wine. we sill start those after the black berries are well on their way..
It helps the juice extraction if you freeze the berries first.
we didn't freeze the blackberries. but after squeezing over a gallon of juice out of them, that is when I ran them through the food processor and put the pulp into the jelly bag.

I'm a fan of goof overboard too. Like you said if your all set up anyways you may as well go all out and make a day of it. I've done the same thing with pickles. Made 70 quarts one day and didn't have to again for about 2 years I still need to make some bread and butters this year. That's the one thing I never make enough of

Drinking one of the strangest beers I've ever had. It's by the left handed brewing company. It's a milk stout. It's got a hint of mocha. Strong and dark as night but pretty dang delish.

I had one of those on Friday. Yum! New Glarus makes one of the best stouts in the winter months called Coffee Stout. They used to brew another good one called Road Slush. I miss that one. Atwater Brewery has a vanilla java porter that is pretty darn tasty too. Another fav of mine.

Been busier then heck around here. Chickies are all doing well. I made some jelly last Thursday. I have a Cuisinart juicer that is supposed to remove even small seeds but I haven't tried it yet on small seeded fruit. I am going to try some elderberries & see how it does. IF I can get them picked before the birds & chickens eat them all. I saw a cedar waxwing out there yesterday. Beautiful birds!

Welcome to the newbies! I can't remember the name of the one that is in Walworth. Was it the one with lots of W's? You are pretty close to me & Cind. I am in SW Waukesha Co. What breeds do you have if you don't mind me asking?

Just back from a trip out to Colorado. Saw some great sights, had some great weather, but it is sure good to be back in good ol' Wisconsin! Time to go out and see how the garden fared. The poultry is all still alive and kicking.

Oh how funny! DH & I took a road trip out to Colorado in June. Where did you stay? We were in Colorado Springs then Estes Park. We went to Pike's Peak, Royal Gorge, Rocky Mtn. Nat'l park, Garden of the Gods, Florissant Fossil Beds. The train ride through the gorge was my favorite. The tram ride across the gorge, not so much.

Nice afternoon to all...great harvest cw...mine is lookin good too! Now the work of canning and freezing is the usual agenda..... great also to hear from you Robin...I thought maybe you dumped me for another cheesehead. Yep, I agree with the great flavors of tasty craft beer. It seems like there are more and more getting on the bandwagon.

Enjoy the day...this is as good as it gets!

Nice to see you Robin! My cousin is just over the county border close to Salem. She is raising a hodgepodge of birds, just picked up a couple of rabbits, and will be getting her bees soon.

Had a big party last night for my friends; grilled leg of lamb and venison on the menu, plus 4 different kinds of cake! I was having a cake testing for a bride and groom so I though why not throw a party? That way I will not be stuck with a ton of leftover cake and frosting! No surprise the picked the dark chocolate cake. :)

Tomatoes look like H-E !! due to blight..... oh well.

Looking forward to a VERY LONG weekend away! I have a cousin who lives in Baton Rouge, thankfully on the SW side of town so she is not flooded out. It will be nice to see her since I have not since her wedding last March!

Anyway, that is all for now.
