Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yes, Jim, we do have a pressure washer but I butcher in my garage and don't usually have a real mess to deal with. A piece of plastic on the floor and a tote for the scraps for the dogs/chickens and I have it under control. I do rinse off any meat that needs it, but usually after I take the outer membrane off when deboning (in the house) there is no real need to do so. Plus it is a 4500 psi washer and I really don't want to shred the meat.

Bigz, don't be mad at me for that one, please. LOL

Wow, everyone sure has been busy!
Congrats on the deer.

Still no sign of that fox. No idea what I am going to do. I raked up a bunch of apples, cut grass and leaves and dumped them in the run for the chickens to play with. Kids were heart broken when I told them it got their pet roos. Good news bad news doesn't work with them, their parents are city folks and have no pets so when the come to the farm the absolutely LOVE doing chores. They fight over who gets to feed the animals and collect eggs they even fight over helping clean stalls and sweeping the barn. Going to try and find a hunting cam to hang up across from the coop and run and see if anything shows up. Everytime I hear a gun shot I am hoping someone got it but I havent heard anything through the grapevine.

I am jealous of all everyone does on here! My dad is building a second chicken coop for me but he refuses to teach me how to do anything. He worked in a wood shop and is very skilled, but he is used to working with people who dont need instruction or to be taught how to do anything so I am allowed to use the drill and hold wood. I would really love to learn to do some of these things on my own!

Kids all brought colds with them to the farm, it really slows us down with getting ready for winter. Going to be a long week I think.

good morning,

dae, you wouldn't shred the meat.

we used ours to clean out the inside of chickens . that was my son's idea.

nice cold morning today. it should warm up enough for awhile to do some things outside..

The big coop is ready for winter!! Got fresh shavings for the boxes and they are loving it. I am getting more eggs even. I even got the windows cleaned inside and out. Started working on the chicken tractor (little coop) today and am almost finished. Triple layer of cardboard with dead air space between that and the outer walls. Silkies and frizzles in there so I am doing a bit extra. I also put a wind block in the doorway. Now I just need to find a small heated watering dish and they will be all set.

Enjoying leftovers from last nights dinner. That was a very nice buck. The inner loins were HUGE.

good evening,

didn't go up on the roof today. too frosty and slippery.

our water hoses were frozen .. first time this fall..

both dogs were here this morning. it helped to tie one of them up..

8 eggs today.. must be a day off for a couple of the gals
ya can't expect them to work every day, ya know.

world series is starting right now.
i am picking the Cubs.. mostly because Ken wants the Indians.
Otherwise I never watch baseball..

$25 for a leghorn hen?! Only in the cities . . . Good golly. What do they sell a leghorn chick for at Sunnnyside? $1.50?

you can't blame them for trying.

how long would you have to sell eggs before the cost of the hen is recovered ? Not to mention the feed in the meantime, too.
I paid $6 for POL layers from Sunnyside. It took a few weeks for them to start to lay, but now they are going right along...

The new grill doesn't come with a new Chevy emblem. The factory emblem is 80-90 dollars tho. Talk about insane. Might just do without

they should pay you for carrying advertising around for them.

today looks to be dry.. not real warm, but I have a few pieces of siding to put on without going up onto the roof.
maybe I will work on that.

I checked out the grape vines. I pushed and pulled on some of the brambles mixed in with them. I will go back at it after I find a good pair of leather gloves..
