Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Boy these things grow quick. If they didn't eat so much I'd keep one around....but bacon it is. Couple more months

we did something today that we haven't done is a long time.
we sat on the lawn chairs and threw bread at the chickens.

counted the roosters. there are at least 5 of them,
those Sagitta are really colorful and shiny in the sunlight. and very big for their ages.

I dragged the old fire pit and picked up a load of branches that didn't get burned. I hauled them way in the back to the main burn pile. I will torch that one next winter after the snow is on the ground. I have a couple more loads of branches to collect yet.

I dragged the garden again. if it doesn't rain tonight, I am going to try to do some planting tomorrow..
ya gotta have hope that we will have some summer this year. eh?
I lightly ran the tiller over where the burn pile was. I will toss some grass seed there..

the elderberry bush has sent out a whole bunch of new shoots from the roots.. I don't like the location where they are so close to the ditch of the road, but the town idiots haven't wiped them out so far ,,,yet

Morning all, nothing much to report other than a hose broke this morning while I was trying to water. Feel like I did laundry and took a shower in the same 5 seconds.

good first decent morning in awhile.

I dragged the garden again yesterday.
today I think I will rototill a spot for the
sweet corn and try to get it planted..

two late hatched chicks in the bator.
one doesn't look so great.

I have a whole bunch of chicken and duck eggs to set..
it should be an interesting lock down because I can't tell some of the duck eggs from the chickens'.

I want to call Hsu's compost Co.
I heard that they deliver.

I have a pick up box full of aluminum cans. they are really bothering Annie.
I suppose somebody has to take them
in to Wausau Steel Co.

You might be able to buy a cup of coffee if you do...

a cup of coffee would be good.

I just rototilled up enough garden to plant my corn.
the peas are finally up.

I ordered 2 yards of compost from Hsu's. they are delivering it today.
I could have picked it up with my truck, but I didn't want to unload wet compost by hand (shovel) ..

going out now to plant corn.
bought a 1000 seed pack. have some left over from last year, too.

Beauty of a morning here too! Tilled my last garden this morning again and the soil looks good to go. I hope to get the seeds all planted yet today and have them in the ground for the next rain also. I have to catch up on the weed whacking at some point soon too. This is all using up a lot of my do nothing time... :thumbsup

The chickens come running out every time I open the coop door now. I was able to use a long bendy branch to "herd" them back in yesterday. That was a feeling of success!
Thinking we may need to lower the roost bars since no one is using them yet. Can't figure out how to put in steps for them, so lowering seems the easiest.
Garden is doing ok but with the wind we have to water it so much... that's ok, better than non-stop rain!
Other than that, just getting things ready for the graduation party. Still bummed I'm missing the bash, but next year I'll be there. You guys all have a blast for me!
