Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Anyone on here interested in some started chicks? I was supposed to go to 7 mile fair and didn't get up on time, whoops! I go back to work in 3 weeks, getting up early again is going to be tough. Summers do it to my night owl self Everytime.

Anyway, these guys are straight runs from a Cackle hatchery surprise box. Lots of Cochin, a few light brahmas, quite a few polish, welsummer, and a few barred Rock or Dominique, speckled Sussex, and a buff orp or 2. Plus a few more off the top of my head, a speckled houdan I think? It's been fun, but 51 chicks are way too many.
They were hatched 6-21, no longer need brooding.
I'm going to ask $5 each, but buy 3 get a free one.
They haven't had any shots, but have been on medicated chick starter. None show any illness. The only death I've had is by stepping on one
I'm in Milwaukee area.
Oh also, if anyone wants to take all 40, I'd totally cut a major deal....like $60 for all.

TK, if/when you get rid of your extra chicks, you can work on my remaining flock.
I have 8 hens and 5 roosters to get rid of.
about half of the hens are laying.
they are all young chickens.

Annie's car pooped the bed. blew a head gasket . I was the last one to drive it.
I moved it out of my way so I could get through with the tractor. as usual, it is my fault. :hit:confused:

Wyo, I thought of selling a pup as well.
but John hasn't returned my call.
I think he is looking locally for any kind of LGD
now. can't blame him, it is a 2000 mile round trip to pick it up.
the lady with the 3 year old Charlie hasn't sent me her email addy. I think she is backing out about letting him go. can't blame her. they are hard to let go.

darn TK, I wish you would have had this in April. Milwaukee would have been closer for me to drive to than Waterloo
I probably will do the cackle surprise again next year. It's been so much fun figuring things out. Maybe we could go in on one and split it evenly! Sometimes they include waterfowl and turkeys, but i can't have them.

I am in SW Wisconsin, I have no trouble with the flock in the winter. Even the silkies and frizzles did fine. I staple cardboard on the walls and ceiling in the winter and also only heat the water which I leave in the coop in the winter. I have a run for mine made of heavy duty chain link that I got at the salvage yard. I have eagles and hawks so I also covered the top of the run with chain link. My run is 6 ft. tall so I can walk into it.

Where are you in SW Wisconsin? I am in Viroqua. I was wondering about the salvage yard where you got the fence. I really need to fence in around my coop. Right now, my chicks free range all the time.

Ha! Try Craigslist, but we're too far apart to be more help than that!

they are on craigs list.
I had them on craigs list earlier this spring.
I kept lowering the price.
got down to $3/each. still no takers.
he!!, a chick sells for that much..
at least four of these are first time layers..
maybe some dark night I can take them all for a drive just North of Schmidts Ballroom and just drop them off.. hmmmmm

GG ,the beans will be ready to pick by Tuesday, I think..
