It's amazing the difference from Wausau to antigo. It was 30 degrees when I left for work at 5. I had a pretty impressive layer of ice on my windshield. Not frost. Picking a couple dozen eggs and working around the house today. Been soooo terribly busy lately. Hope it settles down soon.

Yeah Corey, and I am glad for the difference.
we have a ton of tomatoes trying to get ripe on the vines.

today I cut the last two rafters and finished putting all the rest of the rafters up.

slow work when there is nobody on the ground handing things up to me that I forgot to carry up the ladder.

I am sore and tired right now.
going to make a frozen chicken pot pie for supper. I don't especially like them, but they are easy..

no ladder climbing tomorrow. I have to plane about 100 feet of 1x4 pine for the purlins.

I let the puppies run free all day. they sure liked that. but they were reluctant to go back into the kennel .
tomorrow I won't feed them until it is time to go back in..

Ugh my post was just deleted, so I have to retype. Anyway, culled 3 of our 7 hens. The fourth being considered was saved by her friend that loudly objected to her removal from the coop. So I cleaned off #4 butt and put her back in the coop. We've got 3 in the fridge testing and one will be brined in a few days.

I think I will follow advise to get one breed type per year, it really would make life easier!
Glad it's warm down here and sorry that you guys up north are at freezing temps!

He all. Been crazy here so I haven't been posting much. Garden is almost done. Mushrooms should still give a fruiting or 2 this year. Going to be a very early morning tomorrow. Have to take my skunkaroo to have his nutty buddies removed. Hope he doesn't hate me after this. Goats are growing as is the pup. Daughter is a straight A student again this year. My MIL that I have sworn was my best friend is now trying to drain us of every penny we have so that we can stay in the house. Hubby has a new job offer that MAY help.

Realtor is stopping over on Saturday to list the house up north! I will be happy to be rid of it. I will admit, I do miss that kitchen! Good thing I know the designer.

Between running up north every weekend and work, I have not had much time to do anything with the new place. I pulled a ton of weeds out of the terraced flower bed this evening. Did not get them all but made a big enough dent to make a difference. I see there are a few perennials clinging to life, so hoping to give them a chance. Would LOVE to get a Japanese Maple planted someplace..... I always wanted one and thankfully the black walnuts will not kill it.

Speaking of Maples.... looks like the back acerage is all sugar maples. Score!

I have a bird feeder hanging off the deck for the cats enjoyment. We have tufted titmouse birds aplenty. They are so cute! I will try to catch a picture sometime. We have also had a few varieties of woodpeckers visit; a few Downeys and a Red Bellied. Chickadees are plentiful as well. It is so nice to see a good variety of songbirds instead of English Sparrows, grackles, starlings, and cowbirds.

Looking forward to spending time at the new house and finally unpacking!

Mel, do you still have your call ducks loaned out ?

Is there a small pond on the new place or do you have to make one ?

I made one once. it didn't have a good water replacement or a good spillway and got so skunky I filled it back in. it was small.

better go count those maples and figure out how many taps you will need.
you can do this in your spare time..

I am almost ready to put metal on the roof of the new shed. almost made it yesterday but the rain came..
there are a couple of bee's nests in the peak of the chicken coop. or maybe one long one.
the bees go in from each end.
so far they have only been buzzing around me. I was working just inches from one entrance..

@jvls1942 Be careful with that metal roofing if it is windy/gusty. I had a friend who went parasailing off his ladder for about 10 feet with a piece of roofing. Luckily all he got was a twisted ankle.

@babylady4 Good luck with the house sale, hope it sells fast and for your listing price.

One of my 3 week old broiler chicks bit me this morning - twice! I made the mistake of giving them sweet corn in my hand yesterday morning, I think she was looking for goodies this morning. I was trying to get their empty feeder out of the brooder to fill it and she was hungry. She is about an inch bigger in diameter than the other 3, but her comb is smaller than theirs, I am guessing hen?

yep Wyo, I have the south side of the roof ready for the metal. and yes, it is too windy to climb a ladder with a 3'x8' section of it.

I think I will bring the tractor in and stand in the bucket for a scaffold..

I made a jig to hold the panel @ the proper overhang. it will keep the panel from slipping down the roof while I get a few screws into it.

Once we had a bunch of guys stretching a 30ftx50ft sheet of plastic over a concrete wall.

the wind got under it and lifted Ron off the wall he was standing on and he finally decided that after 6 feet into the air, he would let go.
he fell that 6 feet plus the 9 feet of the wall to the ground. didn't get hurt at all.

we often wondered how high he could have gone had he hung on longer. ??
