Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ugh..... what a week... I hate countdowns to funerals.

There were two head on wrecks with semis; the one on Friday that killed my friends son, and another where the vehicle that hit the semi caught on fire..... my DD's BF went out on that call...... he is a firefighter. That was a nasty wreck.

Yeah, no chickens here until the Black Walnuts go away.... :(

hi
what do black walnuts have to do with having chickens ?

I got the OK to buy a new jointer.
I was thinking Porter Cable, but think now it will be a Grizzley.
I have a Grizzley planer and it is very nice.

Wendy went home today. her pups are due about Jan 4, 2018..
the girls who own her are very excited..
I hope she has good luck..

The juglone toxin the trees produce will affect the chickens; or I thought it would....

I need a big workshop/garage before I get any other livestock.

I have a grove of black walnut trees that I planted a long time ago. there are about
80 left of the 100 I planted.
I had it fenced in and raised my meaties in there. a hundred at a time. they were not harmed in any way that I could tell..

today I will call in my order for the Grizzley jointer..

it should arrive here before turkey day..

I told Annie that when I die, she could sell all my tools and keep the money. she said, oh no, i am going to die first.. now it is a race to see who goes first..

Wendy is a Maremma, just like my dogs.

No new jointer ordered.
I didn't like some of the reviews I read.
I will just tune up my little 4" Rockwell and make do.. I will keep searching in the mean time.
I am going to tear apart my big router table and make it smaller. I have an old table saw base I can mount it onto, I think.
then I have to make a new fence for it.

....but who cares ? nobody is on here anymore anyhow..

The Porter Cable brand used to be a good product. Stanley really screwed up the Porter Cable brand when they bought it out.

I need to get off work by 2 tomorrow. Traffic heading north for opening weekend gets pretty heavy. Hopefully there are no backups at the 141/41 split...

I need to butcher my 4 meat birds. They are still pretty mobile, but they are eating me out of house and home. I have two that are huge and 2 that are just plain big. They look huge next to the Special Brown egg layers that are in the coop with them. They are 8 1/2 weeks old. The 2nd biggest tried to fly across the coop this morning. She never left the ground but knocked the little egg layer chicks out of the way as she flapped to the feed bucket. It was very funny to see.

We had one of our ranger meat birds tonight. It was delicious!

The 2-year-old grandson is keeping me busy; that, and getting ready for the 40+ crowd expected for Thanksgiving.

are they coming by bus ??

we decided that we weren't going to make a big dinner. just the two of us.
Well, both DD's are coming with their BF's
grandson will be here and us.
just going to roast a couple of chickens,
potatoes, sweet potaotes, stuffing, corn and pie..
KiSS.. Keep it Simple, Stupid..

I have been suffering with freezing cold feet lately. IDK what is causing it..
maybe I'm dying from the bottom up :lau
I found a nice warm pair of slippers, that is helping a lot..

If this cold weather persists, I will have to change out of shorts and flip flops and start wearing long pants and tennies ..

Jim, we have several Grizzly tools and have had nothing but good luck. We do not however have a jointer so I can't vouch for that. Also, my hubby who never has cold feet is now constantly complaining that his feet are cold and it isn't even that cold here. I feel like this is the one time of year I like menopause. If I am cold I just have to wait for a hot flash and I am all better! :)
