Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Busy here today, took out three trees lining the driveway..... so much nicer now!

I will gladly donate black walnuts to anyone who wants them..... I have 20+ in the yard.....

Has anyone created a chicken stock thread? I did not see one......

Do you mean the nuts ? or are you referring to the trees ?
If you ever cut down a tree, try to find a guy who is into wood turning on a lathe. those guys go nuts over walnut.

I have a couple of large branches to cut off of one of my walnut trees. I think I will chunk it out for use on my lathe..

the trees in my grove drop dead branches almost as badly as a willow tree does..
the upside is that the branches decompose quite quickly, and anything up to 3/4" in diameter I can mow with the rider..

Well, I sure hope you can make it Jim, we can give you a ride home if you stay on the new mattress that we put in the bunk rooms....just called LBJ cutters and ordered the pizza cutter...so things are in motion for another bash. Won't be long now for some time around the fire pit. Think I'll practice now with a long neck, just to be sure I know how! ;)

well, I got a good start on the cleaning of the garage/shop.. I never got in beyond the overhead door. I collected about 50 pounds of sockets and their wrenches. at least a half dozen each of utility knives and vice grips.
and I found my complete set of forstner bits..

I missed my afternoon nap. and I think I got a little sunburned on my receding hair line.. lately I am combing less hair, and washing more face..

Hi all,
I hope nobody got hit by that storm that went through southern Wisc.
I don't know if I mentioned that I had to remove some nasty rust from a set of forstner bits.
well I did..
I bought some WD40 Rust Remover Soak.
It took a couple of days , but in the end all the rust is gone. I saved an expensive set of drill borers..
then I dropped in a dozen rusty socket wrenches. they took only about an hour to soften the rust, then a couple hours more and they came out clean enough to read the writing on them. a little rubbing with 600 grit sand paper to shine them up and they look just fine.
I have a handful of rusty drill bits that I want to try next...
just a FYI..

coke works for light rust and a little corrosion.
vinegar and salt work, too.
vinegar without salt works too..
I have used them all at one time or another.
today I decided to quit playing around with the rusted things. I went right at the pile of shti in front of the doorway.
found lots of copper and steel fittings.
shut off valves and tools..
an electric motor for a hospital bed.
and a tote full of scrap metal..
almost can sweep the floor ..
yes, there is a floor down there..

I have so many piles of shti lying around that I need to clean up. Always find "better" things to do though.

We dropped about $800 to find out our beloved 3-year old german shepherd is now blind. Not sure what happened to him, they are running tests. He had some difficulty finding the ball when I was throwing it for him on Saturday, DH said he was just distracted. We noticed his eyes were looking odd on Tuesday, took him to the vet and a specialist on Wednesday and yep, he is blind. We think he has a little sight, possibly some shapes or shadings for high contrast things, but can't see your hand when you give him a treat. He still likes to fetch, just takes a little longer to find the ball and can't catch it in the air anymore.

I sure hope the pup's blindness is only temperary ..
when I was a kid, my friend had lots of horses, one white shetland was blind. she got along just fine, though.. lived to be very old.

I got a good section of the shop cleaned, and that section of floor swept.. onward and forward ..

have a five gallon pail half full of screw drivers.. all of them I will never use..
