Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

you might have a rooster, but the color has nothing to do with that. barred rocks tend to come in light or dark.. I have never had a light colored rooster, though..

those mean turkeys or roosters always taste the best..

How do the combs compare between the 3 Heinzie ? 4 weeks is still a little early to be sure who is what. My newbies are little over 2 weeks already...not sure what the ratio is...but I have some of each..LOL

chk scr, thanks. I don't mind linking the people, but I stay out of the negotiations.
I hope they can strike a deal.

having a hive close by will really improve your garden.

I fenced in my compost pile yesterday and took the girls over there for a little field trip. I have not Laughed that much in a long time. At first they were shy but then one of them found a little leaf worm then it was game on. Still laughing about it. Going to give them another half hour later today:) I am guessing this is old hat for most of you, but I had to tell the story to somebody

It's amazing how timid the chickens are about new things, until one makes a move...then everyone loses their fear...silly birds!
I've been considering bees for years bl4...maybe next year would be a good time to start. Keep us posted on your success with the process. I buy my honey from a nearby neighbor and never attempted raising them for that reason, but yep, the pollinators would be a blessing.
