Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi Yawl,
today I put my vinuard cap on. I took the back blade off of Ollie and put the tool bar on with just a couple of teeth on it. went down and extended the grape row in prep for planting some more roots.
I think I am going to push my luck a little and try planting some this fall. If they don't take, I have some in reserve for spring planting.
I will also do some hard wood cuttings this winter.

Drove home yesterday evening..... through horrendous rain. Three times it was raining so hard you could not drive faster than 40 on the interstate.

DD is all settled in at Point, we miss having her here already.

Would like to get some painting done in the house today, but I don’t think I will be able to with the humidity......

It has been really slow all over the net this weekend. I suppose , unlike me, everybody had someplace to go and things to do..
the doe that has been hanging around this summer has only one of her two fawns left.
saw a flock of 5 jakes the other day.
still kind of wet for mowing. this rain every other day keeps it that way..
I have not started up the rototiller all summer. I will use it to work up the strip of sod I plowed up yesterday..
going to make about 6 pockets of compost for when I get around to planting the grape roots.

somebody on another thread asked me what a tool bar was on my tractor.
as long as I am showing it, you might as well see it too.
the tool bar is the 2 steel angle pieces that I attach the spring teeth onto.
there are holes every 2 inches from end to end. the angles are 6 feet long.
I can add teeth anywhere along the tool bars to make any combination .
this one is set up for 16 inches wide.
I can use it for cultivating between two rows in the garden.
by adding teeth I can make it a 2 row cultivator, . by spacing the spring teeth evenly it becomes a spring tooth drag.
that is the combination I use to work up the soil in the gardens. I do not have to plow because there is no sod in the gardens..
it takes only about 15 minutes to do the 30ft x 60ft garden..

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Our picnic plans for yesterday were washed out, but we still enjoyed visiting with our family.

Thanks for sharing the photo of your tool bar attachment @jvls1942.

I have to get out to the tomato patch and see if I have enough tomatoes to make another batch of sauce.

Stay dry and have a good day!

@jvls1942 Thanks for posting the toolbar attachment. It looks very handy to have around.
I have a small cultivator for use behind my little John Deere garden tractor. I like it because it can be adjusted to a wider stance and I can add more shovels if I want. It will be very handy when we upgrade my garden Tractor to a small compact Tractor with a loader.
I guess it is official - I am a crazy chicken lady. The guy at the feed store said so when I took him up on his offer to sell me chicks at 1/2 price - but I had to take them all. Now I have 15 Cornish X living in my chick house in the barn. I am building a tractor for them so they can get out on the grass in a couple of weeks. DH is such an enabler - he sorta encouraged me, and now he says he is going to buy me a feather plucker to help with butchering day.
I have about 20 pounds of tomatoes picked and in the house. Trying to decide if I want to can tomato chunks or make tomato sauce. I will sort it out tonight I guess. Canned tomatoes is a lot easier I think, and I have a bunch more In the garden that need to be picked and done up. I can do tomato sauce later. I might do some V8 if I can find a good recipe.

I could use a tool bar like that Jim...with the old springtooth drag that I have laying in the pines, I would have plenty of parts...great idea, they should sell those commercially.
Everyone loves my V8....no need for a recipe....simply add 7 more veggies to the pot when cooking down....green peppers, onions, celery, thinly sliced carrots, beets, cabbage, spinach, or swiss chard works....not a real lot of beets, but it sure makes the juice nice and red....cook down till tender...then we run it through the sauce master....re heat and jar it up and process.....teaspoon of canning salt per quart...pressure can for 20 minutes.

Thanks for the "recipe" @bigzio

@jvls1942 Are you finished with the plums or are you still looking for a Plum Sauce recipe. I can post the one I use tonight, if you still want it. It uses 10 cups of diced plums - the way you did your plums would work just fine in the recipe. It has ginger and garlic in it, the description is "Asian style sauce" so kinda a duck sauce. I really like it on pork roast.

I have a feather plucker for sale on Craig's list,
wausau farm and garden..
It is overbuilt and should last a life time..
I would like to see that plum sauce recipe.
I will be using the plum syrup I made. the plum tree is bare for this season.
Brent, just look around for an old 3 pt spring tooth drag or cultivator. that's all that mine is.
I picked mine up for less than $100.oo. a few years ago.. there are a ton of them laying around on stone piles or in the back 40 with trees growing up through them..
I see them on craigs list pretty often.. but now that I said that, just watch, there won't be any listed for a year. LOL
