One more thing you should know about geese:
If you have a concrete slab of any kind, that will be their favorite toilet . It seems that warm concrete on their feet just triggers the poop outlet.

They do enjoy hanging out on the patio...... no big deal to me if they poop on the cement. A good spray with the hose and it is gone.

Getting at least an egg a day now, one day I found two. Definitely the Marans laying.

The Roos are scheduled for the axe this Friday. Good riddance. Was going to do the deed last Saturday, but the neighbors had a birthday party for one of their daughters. We did not want to be butchering chickens with a bunch of little kids within eyesight.

Passed a fatal accident this morning on my way to work. SUV vs pedestrian at 6:30 am. Person tried to cross four lanes of traffic in a poorly lit area. I feel badly for the driver of the vehicle.....

yep, eventually you will get tired of spraying it off. and in the winter it does not work that way.
In a couple of weeks I have to go schedule an appointment for a hip replacement.
It will be sometime after the new year.
Still working at cleaning the garage out.
can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Hope it is not a train coming at me.

@jvls1942 Congrats on signing up for a new hip! I was going to say good luck, but you won't need it. ;) Everyone I have talked to that had a hip replacement has said they wished they had done it sooner.
We are trying to talk my Dad into having hip replacement surgery. It is sad to see him just sit in his chair all day in pain because of his hip. He actually told my sister that if he wasn't such a coward, he would do it.

Just finished making 16lbs of sauerkraut....in another 6 to 8 weeks I'll have fresh kraut ready for the freezer. It freezes really well and remains nice and crisp the way I prefer it.
I still need to deal with my young roo's too. I'm going to the Amish store and see if I can find a place to go with them...I already have 10 in the freezer and can easily part with these. It would be nice to find someone that would take them as soon as you know how many you have after a hatch in 6 to 8 weeks.

Wyo, now a days hip replacement is as common as going to the dentist. shop around and find a doctor who does the cutting from the front.. less invasive and most people are up and around the next day. You still have to take it easy for a few weeks, but us older people have no problem with that..
I watched a video on youtube that showed the whole operation. I have all the tools,
I think I could do it myself..
Brent, I like sauerkraut before it is completely done.. I like it done, too..
I never had a problem with extra roosters. they all tasted just fine..
I like to butcher my own. the processors never clean them out as good as I do..

The deed is done. 5 nicely plucked and processed jerk roosters. The yard is so much quieter....... now I hope the poor salmon faverolles will come out of the coop soon. They were traumatized by those roosters; three at a time would gang up on one hen.

I am now down to my allowed number of chickens; the limit is 20, so at 18 just two under. No idea how many geese I can have, but I don’t need an entire flock. The three I have now are enough.

Jim, hip replacement is easy-peasy. Knees are the PITA!

So I have been told. BIL has had both. Hated the knees.. Has difficulty kneeling, now.
At least the pain is gone.
Yesterday I really outdid myself. Walked too many trips from the garage to the now vacant chicken coop. put many items in the coop. but it is not laying in there loose. everything is sorted and in it's own bucket.
Plus the power post hole digger, weed whacker, 3 high boy chairs, a captains chair, and two sets of golf clubs.
still lots of room as all these items fit along the walls and in corners.
we filled another dumpster, and a half of the tractor bucket with burnables for the burn pile.
the shelves are all almost filled.

FFF yesterday was a good one. Jennie stopped after work for supper and took all the leftovers with her, including half of the fresh made apple pie that was not eaten.
Tossed some wood in the basement today. I still have a way to go yet before I have enough. Cleaned the chimney today and the stove pipes, just need to put things back together.
Badgers never showed up today. They will move way down in the rankings after today.
Time to go start the grill...Venzun loins with big grilling shrimp and baked potato, along with some buttered broccoli ….. things could be worse for sure!
