Good opening weekend here….we have 4 hanging for 5 hunters....Angie shot two adult does, my grandson shot a doe and I bagged a 4 pointer...cutting and skinning is on the to do list now. This meat hunt is off to a good start with some days off now for processing. Kinda nice that a guy trades hides for gloves a mere mile from here.
Continue to have a safe hunt!

that takes the pressure off.
I am down here on the puter because the pack is sucking badly. 1st half.
I hope the second half is much better.
I made a batch of dinner rolls . had some time while waiting for the game to start.

This is the first year in a very long time that all members of the hunting crew were completely skunked opening weekend.

Too much corn is still standing in the fields surrounding my in-laws place.

I was looking forward to some venison.

BL4, there is plenty of time to get a deer, yet.
My bro and the boys got skunked, too.
All 3 of his boys are high school teachers, so their hunting will be put off until Thursday.
IDK if he will go out by himself ..
I am not going to say anything about the Packer game.

on a good note, my dinner rolls turned out great..

No time here; DH had to go back to work. He had three tags to fill too.

My FIL might manage to get one, or my oldest DD and her hubby. As it stands right now, no venison for us this year.

doesn't your group share the meat ?
We always split it equally.
I don't hunt anymore, but the guys still give us meat..
When we were in high school we hunted with some neighbors. whom ever shot a deer got to keep it. that really sucked since we did a lot of driving .. Never went with them again..

We share the meat here, so all the hunters have a fair share, even if they don't shoot one. We are taking 40lbs of trimmed meat to Kropf's meats for mettwurst, summer sausage, and snack sticks. We grind our own burger and cut the steaks and roasts to perfection ourselves.

My Dad has stopped cutting up his own deer and now throws in the with the hunting group next door. They all hunt the same property, just stay in different cabins. They don't do a very good job of cutting up the meat, but everyone gets a share. Dad no longer has to feed a family, it is just him and Mom so it works out for him.

Neighbors dog cane over to the house yesterday and had a grand time torturing my chickens..... still missing two. With the weather today I did not expect them to come back; I am hoping they manage to survive the night..... I am really pi$$ed that one of the missing is Gretchen, our only Chocolate cuckoo Orpington.

I went over to the dog owners house today to speak with them, but of course they are not home. I left my contact info inside an envelope and put it into their mailbox. I’ll call the police on Friday to file a report, I want to give the birds a chance to come home first.

Dang dog chewed through my electric fence too (somebody thought it was not necessary to have it on during the day); so now I need to get out and re-wire the fence together.

I did not need this right now..... especially right before a holiday.
