Bigzio, green salsa sounds great. Have any recipes you don't quite like? I'd be willing to try one this year yet. Had a plant of great bright orange romas, half never ripened

My other plants finished up just in time. Hate to toss 'em in the compost after fussing over them all summer.

I am drooling over all the posts of harvest abundance. We moved to our 5 acres in May; so far have planted raspberries, rhubarb, blueberries, and 2 apple trees. It's hard to wait patiently for things to mature. We put in a large veggie garden; new soil + cool summer = small harvests. Still sad over the pathetic squash. Came away with decent amounts of peas, carrots, tomatoes, and peppers, though. Thankful for that.

So far all I have been dealing with are grapes and apples.... I have more applesauce ready to can and I have more applebutter cooking away in the slowcooker right now. My youngest DD had a friend over who called my applebutter apple pie in a jar.

Took the DH out tonight to see Bill Cosby. My sides are absolutely stiff from laughing my tush off. What a riot! If you ever get the chance to see him live, do it. Well worth the time!

On a side note, apparently the chickens I hatched out and gave to my mom's friends have gone AWOL with their egg laying..... they found 19 eggs in a pile of straw in a shed on their property.... silly chickens! The 3 that were doing it were completely lost when the pile of straw left the shed.... the 'farmers' are keeping the birds locked in their coop/run for a few days to give the girls the hint on where they should be laying.....

And that applebutter sounds delish......I don't care for it really. It's probably because I never tasted a good one. I bought some from the store once thinking....hummm, that's sounds really good. What a disappointment. It was gross.

A coworker purchased one of the season ticket packs so they get announcements in the mail about who is coming to the PAC. They let me know back in May that Cosby was coming so I had months to plan for the ticket purchase....

I am so sore from laughing today....... I miss his comedy.

Good Evening...
fordmommy, here is one green salsa receipe for you. If the quantity is to large I think you could prolly cut in half.

20 green tomatoes pelled and chopped
6 lg onions chopped
5 green peppers chopped
1 c vinegar
1/4 c canning salt
4-6 hot peppers chopped

combine all ingredients, simmer 2-2 1/2 hours until thick. Process in boiling water bath for 45 minutes. makes 8-10 pints.

Yep, I left a trail in the snow when I walked back from the woods this evening.....bummer, eh!

I made apple cake today. It's still cooling. And mini blueberry muffins this morning. Yum.

Then, I finish winterizing the house today. I have 4 patio doors. I put plastic over them. It had them when we bought the place. Eventually we want to replace them. Gotta' have the money first.

Now we are going to start carving our pumpkins. We have a lot. And I like to carve them really cool. I'll take pics when I'm all done.

I was in St. Louis over the weekend for a nephew's baptism. We came home Monday. On 39, going north through Mad-City a little after 4pm, I saw a reddish Honda Accord (if I dismember correctly) with a BYC bumper sticker. Hi, to whomever it was.
