Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

your rubber eggs are what's called shell less, if you know a teacher, school kids love those eggs. plus another name for you comets, sex-links. from what you said your doing good. Is this your first batch of chickens? if so, you might start a collection, I started out with six, now I've got more than 400

If you keep getting those rubber eggs try to find out who's laying them because your hens could start to eat eggs because of them.

As I've said many times I'm glad I got up today because I learned something. Thanks for increasing my knowledge and vocab. I hadn't thought of the learning aspect of the shell less eggs. But I will contact the schools to see if their interested in taking them. Thanks good idea! Hey here's another idea after I retire I could maybe take a hen into the classroom and give a little spiel on where eggs come from. Yes this is my first year with chickens and as I've said I will have them until I'm unable to properly care for them.

I've always had a way with animals and kids, gee maybe we have a connection some how. Maybe I'll never grow up or maybe just retain a little of what it's like to live life free. WOW now with thoughts of retirement it's starting to come back to me. Be a good person, be a good neighbor, be a good friend, be a good parent, be a good.... I believe in Karma! What goes around comes around. I'm really looking forward towards the rest of my life and putting a few smiles on others faces and a constant one on the inside and outside of mine. Life is good!

Good Evening.... Rainy day all day here. Won't be getting tthe gardens tilled anytime soon...

Dr HaHa...I took a early retirement and never looked back. The ability to have your life every day without a full time job is priceless.

I have enough here on the hill for two lifetimes. Staying busy is never a problem.

Did you mention what part of Wi you are in ?

I did some more research on my ford 8N tractor. I thought it was around 1953, however it's actually 3-13-50. Didn't know it was older than me. It's in better shape though....

Good Morning all! I'm about 4 miles west of Nekoosa. Have been since 67 off and on and am staying put. I've been all over but came back to Wi. because of the people. Bigzio thanks for the words of encouragement. Think getting rid of the stress of my job and watching the sunrises and sets and everything in between will put a smile in my heart and my face. I love the sun coming up on the water while fishin. It makes me feel like a rich man. Just went and gathered the AM eggs, nice stars!

bigzio-I took your advice on the alfalfa. Wow! Alfalfa's fun! They loved playing in it. And I love to watch. I will be investing in more for the winter. Thanks!

Hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day. It's just gorgous outside today. I really missed that sun.

I too have enough projects to keep me busy in retirement but the major stuff is done. I bought a fixer upper with 8 wooded acres 10 years ago and have been a busy boy. New roof, insulation, windows, and siding, on the house plus new roof, windows, door and siding on the garage. You see I had a plan. Get this place in shape then retire. It looks like it's all coming together.

I've got a 53 VAC Case that I use in the woods for dragging logs out, runs great and she earns her oats. Unfortunately it's getting parked outside and tarped soon. After cleaning out the shed, that stuff all got moved into one stall of the 2 stall machine shed and I even sorted and threw out some stuff, but not much. Hey it's all GOOD STUFF! I hate scraping windows so Laura can park in garage and I'll park in the shed. I'd like to get one of those steel canopys but right now it's not in the budget. I've come along way baby and it's almost time to enjoy life even more. Makin wood, fishin, playing with the chickens, fishin, havin a beer, fishin, putzin around the house, fishin, takin a daily afternoon nap. That's stage 2 on the plan. Having a beef roast tonight[raised right by my friend/neighbor] with all the fixins. Gonna have to have another talk with Laura. She pealed the new red potatoes. City Girl! But I do Love her so!

After reading my post I forgot to say I cleaned out the shed to make the coop and run. My friend/neighbor we'll call him Donny cause that's his name came over to see it when it was done and said he was going to move into it. Made me feel good. He's good people too!

Good Evening... I'm so happy to hear that everyone is doing great...

Having a plan is the way to gooooooo. Don't forget the emergency fund. It will come in handy from time to time.

Then simply add back to it, for the next time. I know for sure that there will be a next time. it's for the rest of your life, eh?

fordmommy, I'm just plain happy.... it happens you know.

I think your tractor should get some attention and get going....you'll be glad you did. They were born to run..
