Whereabouts is your hubby from?

Good Evening to All...
fordmommy & DrH....

That's really cool that the two of you are both able to come out winners.
Does this mean you are both inlaws..

Lady Catrina...that's too funny! You are welcome anytime... Cheeseheads are the most forgiving folks I know!

Dr H. My girls are resting from egg laying right now. Going into the short days of fall, my 8 five year old hens were laying a doz eggs about every 10 to 14 days.

I did have the heat lamps on during the first sub zero temps and collected 5 eggs during that time. Now it's been lights out to give them a chance to rejuvenate their systems. They really do have the longevity factor. My girls are welcome here long term. It will be fun to see how many they provide in their 6th year.

They really enjoy the deep bed of straw I provide for them.

Gotta love those pretty hens!

Wow! You all are so amazing! I have so much to learn. Over 1000 eggs since September? Having enough eggs to sell? Buying and hatching roos and chickens? Wowsers!

I agree wholeheartedly, way cool! It's nice to be able to make a connection like this instead of an impersonable one. Almost like hollerin across the valley. I didn't even think about the related aspect of this transaction. I've always been known as more of an outlaw than an inlaw. Didn't know it until I was told so.

But I'm willing expand my family tree to a branch for chickens. If you were to come to my fam reunions you'd understand. All good people but there should have been a filter at some point. I'm living proof! Bigzio that really amazes me and am glad to hear it. Now I'm looking forward to spending more time with my first girls and now with Roody coming oops I mean Peaches our lives might be enriched with little peepers as well. Hopefully! Now Zohbug is seeing how real life can be. I warned her, didn't I warn her? Now I almost feel bad. Almost! I owe Lady Catrina a big I'm sorry for not saying hello and welcome! I've been being self centered with myself!

You married into the fold your stuck now. A lot of good people here! Thanks to all of them for all the help and support! It really means a lot!

Can I say what a year I have been having?
First the oven broke, then the microwave...

Then BOTH computers became infected with viruses.....

Then my cell phone went to heck (I can get calls but my screen died so I can't see who I am calling....)

Now all I am waiting for is the TV or the washer and dryer to croak.......

Happy New Year!

Glad to see everything is still chugging along like normal here.

Hubby is from Brookfield, and his sister lives in La Cross (sp?). The rest of his family live in Milwaukee.

Dr. H, you are so not being self centered, lol - seeing how many members are on this site, geesh - you can't be eggspected to say hi to everyone, now can you?

I am glad that the story of Peaches came out well - I hope to 'hear' more on this,

.

1000 eggs? wow. And I fear I will be overwhelmed with 3 doz, once the girls get going strong. Today had 11.

Hope ya'll are staying warm up there!

Wow bl4 that certainly is a string of bad luck and expensive too! You should be set for run of good luck for a long time. And you really shouldn't have typed it out loud about the washer/dryer. Bad karma! LC it would be very impolite not to say hello. Being a good neighbor/person is the most important thing one can do with their short time in this world. Being mean, cruel and self centered will only gain you loneliness and inner hate. -4 out there, the girls are getting a warm B'fast of oatmeal/raisins and table scraps to warm their innards. It's ready but I'm not, gotta get movin. Have a good one!

Babylady4-Don't bring on the bad karma!!!!!! Good Karma ONLY!!!!!

Glad to hear from you!

Do you guys COOK the oatmeal for the girls or just soak it? I am thining about giving them a treat today but nobody says if you actually cook it or not. The raisins are a good idea...just found some when I was doing Christmas baking that must have been in the cupboard a LONG time:barnie Terri O near Madison
