Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

He was on the floor but surrounded by deep straw. You called it 2 more eggs. Sleep well my friend! Life is good! Especially for a boy named Peaches.

Sounds like Peaches is having himself a grand ole time there! If not yet, he will be!

Our bantys seem to be okay. They're hanging out with each other, and know where the food and water is, but aren't drinking or eating as far as we can tell. A friend said that they're just settling in and not to worry since they're talking to each other every now and then and they aren't cold since they're in our living room and aren't huddled up too closely or anything like that to give me a reason to be concerned. The kids took turns singing to them when we got in from sledding this afternoon!

My daughter wants to know how soon she can teach them how to play peek-a-boo. I think it's a bit too soon yet, yes?

Hey I'm not gone yet...hopefully tomorrow for fishing. I've been babysitting my brothers boer goat she had twins today. He doesn't have anywhere warm enough so bring her over. Kids are in 4-H and this is one of the fair projects. We've been doing goats for ten or eleven yrs. He's got boers and I have had fainters. Now my kids have grown out of 4-h and fainters are gone for know. But the up side to this is my wife and I had a surprise 3 yrs. ago and have another daughter that will be in 4-H in a few yrs. Hopefully she will take chickens to the fair to. Packer game kinda sucked but look forward to next year. I'm not a big sports guy. Unless it's hunting or fishing. See ya'll in a few days,Let ya know how we did. Mike

Zohbug I can see why your daughter fell in love with them they are waay too cute! They should provide many hours of enjoyment for everyone. When did you say you were moving to the country?

Went out to check on everyone this morning and all were fine. But with one noticeble difference. The nest boxes were devoid of eggs. Usually get around 5 at that time. But one hen was in there and I left her alone don't know how many were under her. I knew there would be an interuption in laying. Think it will pass soon enough. Have a very long list of to do's today after slacking off yesterday. Can't use the pack as an excuse anymore.

Happy Birthday Terri O!!! May you have a splendiferous day!

Ah, our chickettes are all over their cage now and were up bright and early at 5:30am. Well before my kidettes. Fortunately I'm up around 5 or so. The kids insisted we camp out in the living room with the chickettes so they wouldn't get lonely, but the gals found their water and food and made themselves right at home. Ahh... my kidettes can't wait to play with them and are pestering me to no avail. Thank you all again for reassuring me that it'd be okay.

ETA: DrH, my lease is up on this house in July, I'm totally serious about a move to the country then! I'm networking and trying to find enough space for a couple of goats, a couple of sheep, a mini donkey, a good sized garden, a dog or two (we're looking at Australian Shepherds and English Shepherds), and, of course, enough chickens to keep our hearts smiling!
