and the cheeseheads thread too!

DrH, that's a bummer about the hams....maybe they will smoke'm for free, eh?

That would be a good gesture on their part for their fault, I'm think'n.

Fire up the blower tommorrow and get the hill cleaned off for a run to town.
It's nice not having to worry about the snow as soon as possible.

Good Morning! Ya I was thinking that too but also was thinking they make a passable ring bologna and ought to throw in a couple of rings. I waited to do my drive till today also because of the wind last night and the semi wasted time last night. Having the hams cut into ham steaks. The roasts get too dry after the first meal for our liking. Looking at some nasty OT hours for the next couple of weeks starting Monday. Pounding around on the concrete makes me hurt in most spots. 92 days. Have a good one!

Good Morning,

Just got inside from digging out, after everything said and done about 13"...thank the heavens it is the light, fluffy variety. I'm not much of a snow lover but even I have to admit that it looks beautiful out there.

A heads up for anyone having to design a coop or outbuilding or almost anything at all. Google Sketchup is a great instrument. I hunkered down yesteday afternoon and found this CAD program online, a trial version for free. They had some easy tutorials on youtube, and within half an hour I was designing my coop in 3D...and it measures it up, and even gives me an idea as to what materials I may need. If you've got a little time on your hands this is an awesome program. My coop looks great, and as soon as I figure out how to save it in a word or pdf file I'll be really impressed.

Morning! Oh that son looks beautiful today! It is my day off too--what luck! I have a Dr appt this AM but then am thinking about taking my horse out for a bit. Depends how windy it is on the other side of the hill. Where we live we have a hill to the West of the house and it blocks most of not all of the wind. One time we thought it was so nice outside so we went for a walk; as we got to the end of the hill the wind hit us and we were instantly frozen! Now we know better and check it out a bit more carefully before venturing too far! Although, now I have insulated coveralls...Gosh I love those things!

As I was watching the flock in the coop last night I found out that my big black australorpe roo DOES know what his purpose is! It was very interesting because I had not seen him mount any hens since I got him in July! What good is a "best of Show" roo when he doesnt know what to do? I am hoping to have a bunch of show quality BAs this year!

Just heard on the radio that they might be considering a remake 3D version of the '73 movie JAWS! That would be cool. I cant wait until Alice in Wonderland comes out. AVATAR was neat that I saw in the new 3D; I can just imagine JAWS.

Well, I guess I better get moving...dont know how long it will take to get the van out...have a great day all! Terri O in Madison

What a beautiful day! We only got about 5"-6" here. I told you guys to "STOP HOGGING IT!!!!"

And now we have that sun. What a beautiful sun it is. I know it will be missing in action in a few days. So I'll take it all right now.

I'm a procrastinator - I just finished digging everyone out of the snow. We ended up with about 8 inches here in Lyndon Station; really not all that much, but I had one duck pen door that was frozen shut. It took me 20 minutes chipping and pounding away with a shovel, only to find out that it wasn't frozen shut from the snow at all - the mallard drakes in that pen had tipped their entire water container up against the door.

I thought I'd post a picture of my two little 5-month-old Bantam Cochin cockerels out in the snow for you all to enjoy!

What a great joke Dr Haha! I had to share it with the DH. He looked alittle scared.

Glad everyone is enjoying the sun! I know I am! I get into fool moods if it's gone for to long. Feels so good. We only got about 6 here for snow but the drifts were unbelievable. The end of my road had a foot high if not more drift at 8am this morning. I gave her thur and away I went. Opened up the coop and the chicks looked at me like I was losing it. Everyone stood at the door and stared at the ground and me. It was like they were saying "yeah, right" and turned around and went about their business. Very pretty boys Annarie. I have a black cochin that looks just like them. About the same age too. I call him pigeon because when he was younger he look just like one. Now he has the prettiest feathers and tail. By far my best looking roo. Well take care everyone! Going outside to play!

My birds said, "NO WAY!" when I opened their door today, even with the sun out! Only one went out and of course the guineas did. They seem to love the snow! I think they all are wishing for spring!

Annarie, those are gorgeous roos! They look so pretty against the white of the snow. I really liked the look of my bird area this week...no goose or duck poop...all nice and white! They sure tromp it down quick though! One of my duck pen doors has been frozen shut for about a month now. I thawed it once and they promptly froze it up again so now I just throw the food over the side! I guess it will thaw on it's own and then I can go in!

Well, I went outside and thought about going for a horse ride...seems WAY colder now that the sun is down...even though the temp is the same...I thin I will lock every one up and just watch a movie! Lazy...I cant wait until SPRING! Tomorrow...Terri O
