Good Evening All.... The wind sure had a bite in it today, eh!

BBCB way to go with the school project. I remember when the farm animals were brought to school to teach the kids all about them.

I went and bought a couple half hams yesterday. Me and Suzie have a meat saw and love to cut nice 1and1/2 steaks off the hams for grilling...we usually cut 2 and the balance is for a roast or soup. The grilled is fired at the moment waiting for the big slab of ham.

Hope everyone has a good time at Neilsville. Me and Suzie went last year. We met with Jim and Run a Muck. Yep get there early if you plan on buying any birds. I have my peeps ordered so the 2 and 1/2 drive isn't in our plans this year.

Have Fun..... ~ bigzio

The Eagle poo'd today so I got to go man/good woman shopping! TSC for 100lbs of feed, 2 bales of pine chips, and solar salt. We're stocked. Then off to Ace got almost everything on the long list except for new leathers for a pitcher pump I inherited. The foot valve leather they had didn't look anything like the one I took off turns out the old one was in worse shape than I thought. Got home and looked at the casting shoulda bought it. Don't need it but nice to have when you do. BBCB I'm proud of the way you handled that. A lot of kids don't know how to handle baby's and some are just mean. Parents. It's cool that your youngest knows no fear. It's neat to stand on the sidelines and marvel at how they handle situations and grin when they aren't looking. CP I hate to break it to you but you are in bad shape, we all are.

My BFF has an old tiller that needs work. The Tines are duller than a cob and he says it doesn't run right. Think I can get it in shape, it's an oldy but a goody. Well made! He bought a Mantis tiller. I'm sceptical. Another aquisition to add to the already packed garage and sheds. HEY it's all GOOD STUFF! to me. And that's all that counts. Looking forward to Sat. in Neilsville, L reminded while I was dividing up the cash that I might need money for there. I told her with an evil laugh that it was going to be just gas money.

Yeah Bigz the wind was a wintery blast today...I was out working on our compost heap and the wind was coming in out of the north but hard. Reminds me that we are still probably due for one more big dump of snow before everything is said and done.

Sounds like the Nielsville swap is going to be fun...too bad it's over four hours away. Besides, now that I have chicken fever this is going to get ugly fast. Mom looks askance at me now whenever I start talking about more birds. Hmmmm. Birds....

I'd really like to get a few Jersey giants in the fold. And buckeyes. And some black copper marans. And some welsummers.

Oh and thanks Dr H...I've been a very fortunate guy my grownup kids are really hard workers and keep out of trouble and now the younger ones are following right behind them. They get it from their Mom, no doubt.

BBCB it's all in their upbringing. You and yours deserve a big pat on the back for instilling a good work ethic and an understanding of the world around them. Sometimes even when you do your best you still get a rotten apple but I've also been fortunate. You gotta love em no matter what. Good idea to take the chicks to school looking forward to doing the same. Laura works at a retiement home in town and am taking chicks down there too. Most of the residents are from a farm background. I know that they'll love holding the lil fluffy butts. Another moment to stand back and grin. I love it! Who's all going on Saturday? I'm going as myself, black John Prine ball cap and jeans, look for the poo on the bottom of my shoes.

Oh what a week. First off we all had a great time at the Dells. Went to a water park and afterwards I was so sore! It made me feel old. I guess I can't play like I use to. We got home on Monday night. All around great time. On Tuesday I had tragedy happen, while at work Murry the dominate hen decide to take over the nest that my broody was in and pushed most of the eggs out. Alot of them cracked. My broodie had to have fought back because her comb was bloody and torn. The eggs also were suppose to hatch on Tuesday too.

I told my DH that this was going to happen and had asked him to build me a "nursery" but he said they would be fine. I showed him the mess and I now have my nursery. To bad it took this to happen before I could get it though. I hate being right. Also on Wed we let the baby goat out so she could be with the herd for awhile and when I went down there to give her a bottle I found her on the edge of the pond, gone. Never in all our years have we ever had anything fall in the pond. My DH has been doing this for 10 years now and he has never had anything like this happen. The pond is shallow a foot at most. The edges are easy to get out of. The horses drink out of it in the summer. Very puzzling. It was a very sad day. Everyone cried including DH. So as you can see my week has been crummy. Thanks for just listening, I really just needed to vent. Hopefully next week is better. Have a good one everyone!!
