So get this my wife and I live in the upstairs apartment of a church for college students here at UWO. The last renters had 3 naughty very hyper active dogs, a parrot, and 2 degus (gerbils with funny ears). So we wanted there to be a rule NO PETS. So we had it put into our lease. We went to Neilsville swap last weekend and Ruth saw some iiiiittty bitty little quail chicks and fell in love. I have never seen chicks so small. (I never seen quail chicks before) She got all excited and said that quail dont get very big so they could stay in the house at our the house we are buying because they are not as big as chickens in the house.
She bought 7 tiny quail chicks at 9am. 6 made it home safely 12noon . 5 made it through until we went to fleet farm bought a heat lamp and some food. That was saturday now it is Tuesday and we still have 5 little quail in our dining room with the heat lamp clamped to the table. The chicks are in an aquarium left here by the previous renters. One of them only makes left turns and has a crooked neck. I shold put him out of his misery but it doesn't really seem like misery so we are letting him grow.
I figured we would try to keep it upstairs and not talk about it with the other students and the exec board but then we were talking about the swap and i spilled the beans. So that is why I have waited so long in writing about it.
Fordmommy, I figured our quail chick experience was going to be more like yours when it first started. They seemed like they got cold on Saturday and figured they wouldn't make it thorugh the night.
Looks like Ruth and I will be attending swaps weekly from now until late may. We have decided that we will go to every swap within a two hour radius. Ruth loves going to swaps now which I am so excited about that I found a wife that enjoys it as much as I do.
After the house is closed on Ruth is going to be coming home to take care of Noah, me, and customers when she can. I am so excited about this too because I could definitely use her help with Noah and customers. I am so excited that she is going to be a stay at home mom.
