Go Murry Go!
How long will she sit on the other eggs before she gets up and shows the others were the food is? One was born yesterday how long can it go without food? I thought I read 3 days is that right?

That is great Becky! I sure hope she does a better job than my setters have been doing lately! I lost the third chick under the hen yesterday! There in the morning gone in the afternoon! I do have a brand new goat though...a buckling this time and I sure hope this one survives! Cute little black and white one. All other chicks are still doing well; thought they were going to peck holes in my boots this afternoon when I got home! Guess they were pretty hungry!
I got my salad garden planted today. My dd24 came home and grilled chicken for lunch with baked potatoes and I made some braised cabbage...I think that is the ticket for me--eat a big lunch and have popcorn for dinner! I had plenty of energy for the afternoon after that lunch! (too bad there isnt a fat bellied smiley!) Two more barrels of potatoes to plant and the snow peas, and then it should be almost time to get the warm weather stuff in! I am experimenting with my potatoes this year in barrels...I should have about 150# by fall!!! Y'all can come over for a campfire and baked potatoes!
OK--time to make that popcorn and head up to bed...five o'clock seems to come earlier and earlier every day! (shut up DrH!!!) Terri O

Evening to All.....becky congrats on your new broody mom and babies. I set a chick waterer and chick starter close to the nest so mom can teach them to eat when it's time. Yep, they can go 3 days, but most will start to eat and drink before that....good luck.

Kinda nice day today. Started to frame an area where the new coop will go. I decided to set it crushed rock and be done with it. That should work ok I hope.

Thanks guys. I'm so nervous. I've spent most of the night in the barn worring about the chicks. She's been so good so far I don't want anything to go wrong now. Hopefully after this one the future one's wont be as nerve racking.

Way to go Bigz...crushed rock should be more than fine.

Hey MTF, we are practically neighbors! You guys are going to have to come by the farm and see our setup, that'd be fun.

Sounds like you're on pins and needles, Becky...I haven't hatched anything yet (though we're talking about it for next year) so I'm hanging in there with you, fingers crossed that all of them make it.

Terri O, I don't know how you manage to get so much in during the course of a day and have time to sleep. It sounds like there is always something appetizing on the stove at your place. Good luck with the little one, I hope he makes it.

I've got to get to bed, busy day tomorrow and I have to find some time to clean the coop.

Congrats on the babies being born Becky and Terri.

that all goes well.

Got most of the babies into their new coop this morning. I kept the smallest 5 in the houses still cuz I want them to have friends before going in with all the other bigger babies. This weekend I should be able to mix the new babies with the smaller ones and then in a couple weeks, everyone can go together.

I got 13 duck eggs from BCC. Remember DH said I can have them if I sold a few babies.

beckyschicks-congrats on the babies, it's always fun to hear how things are going! We all sit and watch when we have eggs hatching-especially in the incubator! Last hatch we did a friend of ours came over and watch for 3 hours! Good Luck with the rest of them!

Looks like it should be nice again today-I will be indoors cleaning rental units again have 3 to get done for May 1st.

Have a good one!

OK here goes again. I had a long post going yesterday trying to cover everyone and once again stupid me hit the back button and lost it all. AGAIN! I was so mad I had to walk away. Becky we're here for ya, that's why were here. Love hearing about new life. BBCB I got as far as Jerry Lee in your post and busted out laughing. Cool name! Bigz you da man! Sounded like a really neat hunt! It never pans out like you plan. TO OOOH that sounds delish taters in the fire. The braised cabbage has sparked my interest too! MTF loved the story about your fam; bet it was and wasn't funny. Glad you got them to sit down and eat together. And Happy B'day!!!!!! And you'll be happy to know that there will be no more shooting at birds of prey. I've mended my ways. Thanks for straightening me out! Old dog, new tricks. fm now I feel even worse about not getting a few of those fuzzy butts from you. Yesterday after a nearly 20 minute nap the phone wrang it was the guy that I get my straw from telling me to come down to work and pick up my other retirement gift. I reluctantly drove down there. Peaches is now not the only roo in the yard. This guys son works at a cement lawn ornament place so I now have a 70 lb Leghorn rooster adorning my picnic table. Peaches adapted quickly after figuring it out that it didn't pose a threat. Everytime I look at it I break out laughing. It was an amazing day yesterday. I was putting the tiller back together and realized that I was putting my tools back in the toolbox after using them. Instead of throwing them on the work bench till they piled up. I had more company yesterday than we normaly get in a month. First it was my ex-supervisors FIL wanting 2 dozen eggs. [Made a sale] then while we were BSing a semi pulls up on the Hwy. It was a driver that I've become friends with over the years. Then while we were standing at the end of the drive my nieghbor and his wife stopped in. I got rid of some flower vases from the garage and told them when I was done sorting I was loading up the trailer and coming over. He swore at me! I got the garlic transplanted after shooing out the chickens. Brownie was digging it up faster than I could plant it. The tiller now purrs like a kitten. And the garage is coming around but there is a long ways to go. And My BFF called and wanted me to go crappie fishin. I told him that I couldn't, had things to do. He swore at me too! Then I said I was fixing his junk tiller. Little does he know it's mine now I keep it. Told him that I didn't need to go cause I have plenty in the freezer. [He gave them to me.] That is the short version of the third day of the rest of my life. Oh ya my ex-supers FIL came back and I swapped him a pint of canned venison for a pint of pickled hot asspergrass man that goes great with beer! Gotta go!

You guys sure are busy! I am at a standstill on the home repairs for a moment so I have been trying to keep busy. I am going to make oatmeal cookies today and I hope to get outside and tackle the front flower beds......

My mom got a new dog Sunday; she is the sweetest little thing! A mutt mix of terrier breeds I think but so submissive! Poor baby was tossed from house to house and I cannot think of a reason why. She is housebroken, comes when called, walks great on a leash, does not bark much at all, and is happy to see everyone. I am so happy she has found her forever home with my mom who will pamper her to death! I have pulled about 10 ticks off of her, gave her a nice bath and a pedicure, and now my mom can work on fattening her up (she is just about skin and bones). She is still settling in so she has not had much interest in playing with all the other dogs in the family but I know she will come out of she shell in no time and have a blast playing with my drool buckets and my sisters yappy monsters!

Well, that is the news at 11 here. Congrats to everyone with the new babies!!!!
