Morning Everyone!

Terri O Wow, glad to hear that Stuart is home safe. I know a lot of prayers went out for that...

As for me, I'm weathering the storm; I've got some additional work for now so that's good, keep some income coming in, and it sounds like a few possibilities for some other jobs, so we shall see. I just keep grinding away.

Boy, I've got some naughty chickens. My GLW hen (I think it's a hen but who knows, those wyandottes are hard to tell) is back in chicken jail for assault and battery to every other chicken in the coop. She's a mean one, and I think I've got to find some blinders for her. Then, I've got three younger (about ten days younger than my 7 week old birds) ameraucaunas in a big dog kennel in the coop, trying to integrate them into the flock. I thought they might be ready, so yesterday I let them out into general population. They got chased around a little right away, but I put some scratch out and everyone was minding their own business. A few hours later, I thought I had better check on the chooks, so I went out there and all three of them were cowering right by the cage...the little blue hen was almost bare to the back side if her head, and all the other chickens were right on top of them, pecking away. Cripes!

So I opened the cage and all three scooted right in like it was the doors of chicken heaven. They curled up in a ball together and now I don't know when I'll get them back out. With the GLW in solitary and the blues back in their cage, the pecking order is pretty much established and it's calm. I don't want to have to get rid of the GLW, so I'm hoping those chicken blinders work. If not, then I'm at a loss.

Boy it came down in buckets last night but it looks like the worst of it went to the north, up near sheboygan and beyond. They looked pretty intense on the radar and I know Green County had a couple of touch downs...I hope everyone is safe today!

hi all fellow cheeseheads!

Was wondering if anyone here in our great state has any Jumbo WI, Texas AM, hatching eggs for sale? I am looking for about 36 or so.

I am over near La Crosse. Please let me know if anyone has any.

THanks
Dan

I have a sneaky suspicion the mallard eggs are shot.... I think mama was sitting on them before I got them and since they sat for a week without heat, they all look like they have blood rings..... (sigh).....

On a brighter note, my oldest DD had her informational meeting at Appleton West yesterday for the charter school. She is so excited!!!!! I am so happy for her, it is about time she had a positive experience at school!!!!

flyweed and Deer Creek! Nice to have you check in.

BL4, hope your DD gets into the charter. Is that the school that was featured in the documentary Supersize Me? If it is, they have an amazing food program

The day is gorgeous; started off perfect, now the wind has picked up. Oh well, air out the house a bit. Out little backyard pond is crawling with toads, all singing away, making little tadpoles

They sing all day and night, pretty to listen to and neat to watch. Saw a few dragonflies too

Have a great Saturday all!

Well the mighty has Casey struck out. I'm bummed. Hit all my old hunting grounds and think that was the problem they were all old. Called my cousins husband, the one who called me and he was working so he couldn't show me any spots. I did get to stop and visit with some friends of the family that live in the next valley. So that was nice they said I could have hunted on their place but they had turkey hunters in there. All in all it was beautiful! Shoulda taken my fishin pole trout opened today too. See TO I told ya Stuart would be in an obvious place. He was obviously on a dirt clod.

Now if my other prognostications would just come true. Didn't get much rain here but sounds like some of you got hit hit pretty good. Glad everyone is all right! Howdy to flyweed and Deer Creek and WELCOME! annarie I beeped at ya when I went through Mauston but think the wind was in the wrong direction. BBCB sounds like you need a striped shirt to referee those bad naughty chickens. Already worried about the GC's meeting the SLW's. Cool pic Amy! Bigz, Without a doubt home made bread is the best. I'm begining to think that maybe storing the dry yeast in the cupboard may be the culprit for diminished rising. Even though it's well before the experation date I think the heat from the wood stove may have affected it. It's happened before. Will just have to buy the yeast when I need it. I have 2 Tupperware bread containers that are currently home to our CD's and cassettes, that's going to change. Can't seem to find twist tie gallon bags anymore only zip locks. That sucks! But I'd rather use the reusable container anyway. I'm trying to reform Laura, her girlfiend calls her the ziplock queen, she is. Now that I'm doing all the baking things will change. There'a new sherriff in town. Enjoy the sunshine!
