Ugh. Not a good morning.
One of my 7-week-old ducks managed to WEAVE his leg though the bottom of a wire dog crate - which I measured, and it's about 1/2" wire mesh on the bottom, which seems IMPOSSIBLE - I've had little 4-week-old Mallards in that crate and they got around on the wire just fine.
My neighbor and I got him out (it was QUITE the ordeal), and his leg looks okay (swollen, but all in one piece, with just one little wound where it was stuck on the wire), but he's limping horribly, and he scraped his wing up pretty bad while he was struggling to free himself:
But, he's alive, and it's a beautiful day outside! He's out resting in the sun right now, and after all that stress I think I may go lay in the hammock and have a nap too!
