Yeah, well, I WOULD have loved horses, but mom said there's not enough room, so I love ducks instead.

I just got a book a few weeks ago (shipped from the UK!) called Colour Breeding in Domestic Ducks by Chris & Mike Ashton. I've read it cover to cover a few times now - I'm starting to fancy myself an expert.

I've been thinking of more possible crosses with babylady4's new Calls - the Pastel to any of the Grays would produce all Blue Fawn ducklings...the Black Bibbed/Magpie (it's hard to differentiate between the two in Calls - with the Bibbed, they tend to have the bib extend up onto the face, and there's a lot of variation with the Magpie pattern in Calls) to the Pastel would produce all Blue Bibbed/Magpie ducklings...solid Black to Pastel would result in solid Blue ducklings....I could go on for hours, hypothetically breeding all her babies together!

I could probably identify your ducks, Terri - or you could go to Feathersite and look at pictures until you match them up: http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Ducks/BRKDucks.html

Oh
, and I have a new little Runner duckling in the incubator! Another one of the really light yellow ones - I did find out what color those ones are, I can't coin it as "Champagne", it's already called "Apricot", so I'm going to have Apricot Runners the same color as this Apricot Call: http://www.freewebs.com/holyfieldwaterfowl/DSC02413.JPG

Afternoon to All...Thanks once again for all the great pics and constant jabber that chickenfolk enjoy so much!
Doc, It's in the mail...hope you like it!

raimnel, gotta laugh when i think of my 3 partitions in the new coop, trying to keep the peace....they will adjust, but it was a challenge more for me , I think? I'm trying to get Jim to post on the forum. I know he would love to share his plucker (he builds them)! He is in Wausau. And I know you already know that. Just sayin.

Have fun, stay safe,... bigz

BigZ, that's the Jim I was talking to like a year ago in Wausau who builds the pluckers???? I never put it together. I am so gonna have to go back in my PMs and check that out....... Wonder if he knew/remembered? should of said something. oh well!

Dr H, madder than a wet hen!....... I thought that saying came from when you put a broody in like 3 in. of water in a bucket to break them? NOW that is a mad hen......

good morning to all

hey annarie i have another duck question for you .... our runners where 2 bro and a sis we got rid of the bros 1 week ago .. she gracie has been sittting on eggs i figure she should be due this weekend some time .. yesterday she was off the nest most of the day making all sorts of noise and we looked and do not see her eggs we did not tear the nest apart just move a few feathers and hay to see what was going on .. so just wondering is she missing her brothers she has been with since birth and where would the eggs go .. she is in the chicken coop... she would hiss at us evertime we got near her so i cant see one of the chickens getting them as she is very protective .. ... a mystery to us

ok, I'm not a girly girl be any means, but that doesn't mean that someone (prob the cat) can put a dead bat in the hallway and make me act like one! EEEElllllek!

Anyway, KAQ sounds to me like u have a mystery on ur hands!

KAQ--if there are no eggs then somebody stole them...if there are half shells then she has babies somewhere! Now to figure out what happened...

OK Annarie--I took the pics and I will post them now. The first ones are some ducklings. Any idea what they will look like in adult plumage?

Now these next two are a boy and girl from last year...if I breed the two of them what do you think I will get? Also, any idea on the variety? (this is a trick question...I think I know who the parents are...maybe)

Hey! This is getting easy! This post really only took me a few minutes not including uploading the pics...which was easy too BTW! I hope you can give me some idea....oh yeah, if you really wanted horses you are welcome to come and ride with me any time! Bring along some of those call eggs and we can try out my new incubator!

Nice morning here...too bad I have to go to work soon and work ALL day! Darn--got a good start on the weeds last night--still gotta pick up the debris...or maybe I will leave it lay just to piss off DH! (did I say that?) Tried to make chicken on a beer can on the grill last night...nope had to light the oven IN THE HOUSE because it was already seasoned and ready! How is it when a family has THREE grill tanks for propane that all are empty at once? Doncha think that the one in charge of this would take two to fill when starting on the third?

Yup--leaving that pile 'o weeds right where it lays....

OK--better get a move on here--have a great day! Terri O
