I think there was a warning or something for Walworth Co? Clear for us in Waukesha too, not even a drop of rain (dang, didn't water my garden thinking we'd get rain!) Hope you stay safe FM!
I am soooo happy with the garden. I was worrying that it wasn't going as great as last year, but I definatly have over 2 dozen tomatoes on 4 plants, and 9sih eggplants on 3 plants! I have a boatload of cukes coming in, and a bigger boatload of pickling cukes coming in! Even my San Marzano plant that I was sooo worried about has 5 little ones starting! Even my orphan tomato plants that I found are doing very well. They seemed to double in size!
Now whats not doing good. Peppers. They never do good for me. I don't understand it! Ughh! Maybe I need more calcium in my soil. Or I need to start them from seed.(Except habeneros, go figure the ones we can barely eat are all big and mighty!) Pole beans. Something is eating them to death. I think slugs, which is weird cause I sprayed garlic water on them. Oh well. I think I perfer bush beans anyways.
Harvested the first two eggplants of the year from the garden this evening (before the rain started) and made a Tomato and Eggplant Dumpling bake. YUM!
I had to take one of the foster kittens into the shelter today for the med staff to look at him - I've been keeping all their weights to make sure we're on track for their spay/neuter surgeries next month - all the other kittens are gaining 1-2 ounces a day, and this little kitten has stayed exactly the same - to the point that he's half the weight of the rest of them now! Poor baby had a fever and was a little dehydrated, they gave him some fluids, and I have to take him back in sometime tomorrow to run another IV. They probably all have a virus, but his immune system is just weaker than the others, since he's been the runt from the start.
Anyways, made tons of progress on the new Call duck pen today - I just need to run back into town tomorrow, I'm one sheet of plywood short. The framing is complete, and I have an acrylic floor in the house area (which is going to be SOOOO nice!):
It's getting there! Just needs to be livable by Sunday!
This was a day from he-double hockey sticks! Where I work has no idea about being prepared for emergencies!!!! We had funnel clouds all around us and everyone just kept working! No notification!
Ok, getting hit with round three. This sucks! I could not even go storm chasing because I had to be at stupid work!!!
AWWW---BCC really? That is a pity...my garden used to be way down at the back of my property and it stayed wet so late in spring and flooded too...I feel for you! Maybe next year's garden you can move to higher ground...is it unusually wet by you or just cause of that big storm? I havent been out to see mine after all the rain last night. We finally did get some...and it was because I WATERED mine I am sure! (maybe mine is under too?)
I am moving really slow today...fell off my horse last night and messed up my back and my shoulder pretty good. Didnt realize that she had that good of brakes I guess...I am getting way too old for that! Couldnt even go on my walk to day; I can barely climb steps and I am so tired from being up listening to the storm all night...I need a nap!
I hope all got through it OK...fantastic light show! BL4 you are funny...wondering why there are no precautions and you want to go and chase the storm! You sound like me! Annarie, that pen looks nearly ready to move it and it's only Thursday! I think you will make it. Be sure to post pics of the new kids...I want to see what a Butterscotch call looks like!
Off to work for me...have a great day! Terri O
(PS) I have one teeny tiny eggplant coming....my peppers are crap this year too!
Well-we lived to tell the tale! Wow! Those were some nasty storms! Doesn't seem to be any damage here. But WOW! I was freaked out. My kids are at my parents'. That's near BL4. And they said that police had spotted funnel clouds and that's when I truely started to worry. Thank God it's over!
so how did all of you fair thru that wonderful storm ... we were in oshkosh and between construction and floored roads it was a mess to get thru... trees and limbs down .. you could not go thru the college area s they blew a man hole cove cuz of the flooding and they should have had south park closed had to ride in the middle of the road doing 5 mile and hour just so i did not get water in the engine of the van ... got home and we were still out of power finely truned back on around 1120 or so scared me as i was just falling a sleep thought it was a huge blot of lighting
and there we a few blots that made me sit up in bed last night reall surprized i did not get a couple xtra bugs in my bed but luckly the kids slept thru it all
