Sorry wish I could help ya out but never seem get my stuff done. For instance. Doing this mornings bread making dishes so as to get my favorite mixing bowl to start the relish to make tomorrow. Just got back from dropping off a bucket of Grn beans and peppers that I just picked at the ex's house she GAVE me her Folley food mill to make blackraspberry jam for fm and us. The relish recipe calls for box gratting the cuc's and onions to heck with it I'm diggin out the food processor. Good luck on getting the kids to help out!

fm congrats to your friend on the baby and I think it's a cool choice on the bedding! Well bread is rising in the loaf pans and the dishes aren't doing themselves. L is at work and both the cats are using the no thumbs excuse again. Guess it's up to me.

Busy day again for everyone and it's not even noon yet

With the FOUR geese I brought home this morning, the grand total is: 25 chickens, 43 ducks, and the 4 geese.

Here are the boys I just brought home - the girls are younger and not quite as spectacular looking yet, but I'll get some better pictures out on the grass tonight - they were hiding from me in the back of the dog crate!

And, Terri O - You know I won't be able to resist letting them hatch babies. And then I'll need someone to take them off my hands...

I found some chicks! Yay! It's kind of a drive.. it will be about 70 minutes, but all worth it for "Lola"

She says she's putting some in the hatcher tomorrow, and she's also getting a shipment of "assorted bantams" in too. I wonder what will all be in there? Hmm... Anyway, next Wednesday we are going. My boys will love visiting the farm too

Anyone heard of her / it?

Hd_d--that looks like a fun place! I have never heard of her but she sure has a lot of stuff! (even more than me DrH!) Her property looks gorgeous...be sure to give us the full report OK? I sure wish I could do what she does with the visits and stuff. I used to take babies to the nursing homes when my kids were younger. That was really fun and rewarding!
Raiquee and her dh came over to get some of Frankie's babies today and I thought I was going to disappoint her...Frankie was nowhere to be found! We toured around the whole farm and even to the pond next door and didnt see her anywhere. As an afterthought I looked in the shed (where she never is) and there she was! We think she was hiding.

(PS) Frankie is over it already! I did forget to have her do the eggplant whisper-DARN! Now I will NEVER have any eggplant.
The beans were cool by the time they left and the jars all sealed. Now I am making some pickled brussels sprouts. The canning thread got me thinking about them...so I am going to try the recipe that someone posted. I have them soaking in salt water now--gotta drive any bugs out before making them up!
Suppose I better get to it! Now that I am cool I have to heat up the house again...what a dope! Terri O

I almost forgot - we're up to 5 ducklings now!

3 in the brooder and 2 still under momma! She didn't get up long enough for me to see if there were any more eggs pipped, but I wouldn't be surprised if we're up to 6 or 7 ducklings by morning!

Sure thing! These guys all HATE me...the one boy hisses at me every time I walk by.

I want to hatch some of their babies and raise some up to be friendly (hopefully, if I watch them really closely, I can avoid any angel-wing issues in the offspring too - I know curly-breasted x curly-breasted Sebastopol matings tend to cause wing deformities, but you can usually wrap them in place, before the bone and cartilage twists, if you catch it in time...the little girls I just brought home have some funky wings, so we'll see if it's genetic or dietary in their babies AND if it's treatable if you watch it like a hawk).

AND, I've decided (in a span of about 8 hours

) that I LOVE geese. I'm printing out my Holderread order form right now to get a couple pairs of Shetlands in the spring!

Except now I'm broke.

I haven't been working at all the past two weeks, and now I'm going to have to start again.

Annarie your geese are beautiful!

We have 2 girls that are about 2 months old, but they don't have the nice curly feathers. I don't know how long it takes for them to develop, if they will, but hopefully they will at least pass the gene on
