Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Amyable, that is why I have the Amish cookbooks. What I would REALLY like to get my hand on is a book from the pre-mixes era. Julia Child's books I think would fit the bill. Anything for old fashioned no-mixes recipies! I do have a web site I frequent often; allrecipes.com is pretty good, you can find just about anything on there. I try to cook as many things from scratch as I possibly can, I have many friends who tell me I have 'cheated' when I make something from a box! I do enjoy those 5 minute bread books, they make a very nice artisan style bread dough. I have the Fannie Farmer Cookbook, Joy of Cooking, BH&G, Betty Crocker, my slew of Bon Appetit' books, and a whole lot of others that I have picked up at rummage sales and auctions plus whatever my grandma used to make.

Dr. H made meatloaf myself last night too! Alton Brown has an awesome recipe for meatloaf on the foodnetwork site.

Interview over! I think I did well, I always think it is positive if you could make the people interviewing you at ease and have them laughing!

Hey everyone, stopped in for a quick read to get caught up on the days postings. Another busy day for everyone, DS(5) will now be going to Kindergarten full days starting tomorrow so the school invited parents to come in and join their kids for lunch so that the kids would know what to do tomorrow.. then DS(5) and I went to pick up out ladders and painting stuff from the house we just finished and went to another building and trimed some bushes and vaccumed the common area hallway. At home now having a snack and waiting for DD(10) and DS(8) to get home so we can go pick up a bag of feed for the chickens-I'm pretty sure they want to eat tomorrow

Our neighbor stopped by the other day and dropped off a big bowl full of pears from his tree for us-very yummy! We'll return his bowl with a loaf of zucchini bread in it.. it's great to have nice neighbors.

and hope you get the job if that is what you wish!

BBCB-good to see that you are back and that you found a job that you wanted! Good luck with the meaties next spring, we raised turkeys so DD could take them to fair and by fair time DH had to help us get them ready and take them to fair-the biggest bird once processed weighed 32 lbs.. maybe you can take your DW and kids into trying those.. they do eat alot though!

Amyable- glad to hear your hanging in there!

DrH hope Brownie feels better!

Hope everyone else is having a great day, kids are home and we're off to the feed mill.

BL4 have printed quite a few off allrecipe's it's on my fav list. My Aunt used to say well it's just a box cake. Hey I like box cakes! Actually anything sweet. That's why my triglycerides are through the roof. Haven't stepped into that realm yet but will. Will probably need another 5 gal pail for flour when I do.

Will have to look at that AB meatroaf. Have the chicks outside for an hour just to get them some fresh air and sun. Brownie is making improvements but think she could easily pull a hurt Lassie on me if she wanted.

So is anyone else going to the Food and Energy Fair in Chilton this Saturday that BuckCreekChickens was talking about? I might head out there and take my daughter to see if there are any chicks that we might want, because you can never have too many chickens right? LOL! Luckily I have an amazing great uncle that takes any I decide not to keep that way I can see them all the time. He is lucky and has a huge yard with tons of acres so he can always use more chickens, or sheep, or whatever else he finds.

Hey everyone! Another tiring week of school. I can't possibly read everything you guys type, but I kinda skim through it. If you have something specific to tell me, put it in bold and I am sure I will see it!

Not sure if I can make the 2nd chickenstock, although it is a weekend, school is so demanding I spend my weekends with my baby and sleeping!
smile.png
And homework..ugh. Can't get away from it!

Been sick all week. Only during the mornings, can't eat lunch barely but once I leave school (around 3-4) I feel much better. Maybe it's the school flu?
smile.png
Well, today I felt fantastic compaired to all week, so whatever bug it was I hope it's gone! I went to school everyday and opened micro plates with staph and strep and it smelled terrible

It didn't help not feeling good! Wed was my hardest day, didn't go and study after school, just went home to sleep/relax.

My micro teacher is driving me nuts. I could stand up and teach that class better. She constantly holds the class over 20-30 minutes past the end of class (which, then cuts our lunch to 15 minutes) and we end up being cranky students. She also is....scatter brained. She is constantly all over the place and she gets frustrated with us. Our class is only 10 weeks, and a 4 credit micro class in 10 weeks is very demanding and we have to move fast. Well not everyone moves as fast as the schedule, and she gets so angry about it. We have a lab practical on tues, wed and thurs and our first exam is on thursday! Then she assigned homework of making flashcards, and told us it was due thursday and then we'd get them back to study for the exam. I pointed out the exam was thursday, or did that change? She then said "Wait what did I say? oh, never mind, then you don't get them back to study from...you'll be fine you'll be fine!" UGGGH!!

:barnie Everyone leaves the classroom with headaches and irritation. Look at your schedule when you come into class, it's part of your job!!!

No wonder I didn't like her as my advisor!!

Well, enough complaining and off to bed! I'll drop back in before class starts again on Monday!

Took me forever to catch up too! Day from HE double toothpicks today! LOOOOONG one with lots of driving. I test drove a car too--Dh says NO WAY WILL WE EVER HAVE A SATURN! Makes me want to buy it just to tick him off! SO I have no time tonight to say "welcome back" and "sorry" and "good job" etc etc! Jut know that I am thinking of all of you and will probably dream about you too tonight! Just what I get for going on the computer while in bed! I think my Ameracauna is a little roo too...the hen was the one that got "adjusted" by my terrier. He thinks he is tough stuff! My babies are starting to lay! Tiny eggs found in the nest boxes recently. Also another batch of muskovies hatched. I am drowning in ducks...Annarie--come and save me! LOL--I better sleep! Sweet dreams! Terri O

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TGIF!

I am SO not used to being up before the sun is up! Another day driving into Appleton and playing at the University. Looks to be a beautiful day!

Thanks BL4 for picking up my slack this beautiful morning. I slept till nearly 6. Raiquee sick in the mornings Hmmmm. Might be a swiming bug ya caught
lol.png
Sorry to hear school is such a B! Yesterday after I brought the babies in I caught one of the slw hens she threw a fit for a sec then calmed right down. Buster came running at her squawk. He was really nervous the whole time I held her. When I put her down he screamed like I've never heard him do before. That was HIS woman not mine. L heard him in the house with the windows closed. Brownie is doing nicely will check her this morning she slept up with the other hens last night. 2 eggs again yesterday maybe I'll leave them locked up till noon. Might have to change my plans this morning was going to drop and cut up a big tree this morning but it looks like the rain is coming early and its windy. Don't like a lot of wind while in the woods while alone. TO don't poke that bear with a stick! Glad to hear your babies are laying!

Dr. H great minds think alike......... I was thinking she suffered from that very affliction as well.....................

Raiquee, I feel your pain with Micro. Did mine in 4 weeks with all the labs and an exam every friday. Managed to pull off a B too.

Annarie, what and where are you going to school for?

Now I have to tease you about THAT sentence! I know exactly what you mean but ya gotta admit...it is a pretty awful sentence! Dangling this and that....did you translate it from another language?
lau.gif
Just 'cause I know you can take it!
hugs.gif
Gave me a nice chuckle anyhow. And I did think the same thing...never heard it called a "swimmer's bug" though. (another chuckle!)

I am amazed that you say it is windy and ready to rain DrH--here there is not a cloud in the sky and it is dead calm. (the calm before the storm?) I just might make an offer on that car and then THAT statement will be true!
gig.gif
I think it is so funny that the roos protect their ladies like that! The only time I really keep an eye on my roos is if I am picking up hens and checking for stuff. A few of them really have an issue with it! The worst is my totally docile Black Australorpe--he is a BIG boy and one of his hens looks like she might be having some trouble...he showed me his spurs yesterday! Of course it didnt help that she was screaming like I was going to prepare her for dinner!

I bet all the school "children" are happy that it is Friday! Been a long week for me too but the weekends are usually worse! Next week will be much calmer!

Well, gotta get out and get everyone fed and then off to cook. Then I go out to Sun Prairie and pick up my newly altered feral cats, then puppies to the after school program! Whew--another whirlwind of a day! Have a good one! Terri O

(PS) If this cool weather keeps up we will be wearing winter jackets at our mini-meet!
