Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I've made Bagles before; it is an interesting process!

Annarie, only suggestion I can give you would be to hit the clearance racks at some of the MAJOR shopping areas...... you might even be able to find one in the Dells..... but it would cost a bit I bet! Good luck on those classes, I see all the students are visiting their advisors right now at Fox too...

Nice to see you pop in FM, I hope everything calms down for you soon and you can come back and banter with Dr. H once again!

Replaced the back door yesterday and put the new screen door in today!

I swear if I EVER find the idiots who did the 'repairs' to this house they better run for the hills!!!!! Morons never put caulk on the bottom sill, no shims were used to keep the frame straight either. No wonder why the darn thing would not shut right and leaked so badly!!!!

I will be so HAPPY to get out of this house!!!!

I better go spend time with the family, I am home so little now in the evenings......

Later!

Congrats GC on the hatch and thanks for sharing the pics H&R...
Yep, I've been busy getting ready for the opener too. I hunt really hard being smart enough to know that It could be my last chance ever. You just never know and sometimes just have to exploit the moment for as long as possible. Once you climb down or leave your stand, it ain't gonna happen that day, or that time afield. I'm a stubborn hunter, and need to hunt with that disposition. It's kinda funny really how much the mental game plays into a successful hunt. Usually after a few hours of not seeing anything, folks take a break. Actually my experience has been, the longer you stay put, the more your odds increase. Just trying to help anyone who doesn't usually bag one!

Doc, it's nice to have the wood piled high, eh! I have more to get at as soon as I can. Maybe tomorrow I can at least get most of the down on the forest floor done, so if the snow flys it isn't missed and have to lay til spring. Other stuff up off the ground will be fine til I get to em....you know that, just sayin.... Stay Safe... ~ bigzio

I live near Manitowoc WI so I'm not sure how far away it is. So far I have 4 button quail that have hatched, then I have a bunch of other birds due this month. I would totally trade you but... my birds are all illegal so I have to hide them and I can't have any roosters. I also am having a really hard time getting rid of some bantam roosters. If no one takes them soon I am going to give them to my snake because I can't risk them crowing and someone hearing. I have 5 duck eggs due around the 28th but they are mixed breeds. I plan to start breeding BCMs when I build a coop at my grandmother's house. Oh and did I mention I have silkies from CatDance Silkies hatching this month too...... LOL! I'm keeping my favorites and selling the rest for $10 a chick.

hey all a good evening to you!

hey Bigz i hear you about sitting on stand all day i also am a firm believer in it. I have shot quite a few deer right around lunch time and i dont think the deer just decided to move in the middle of the day. i try to get in my stand by 5 and dont leave till dark. its tough sometimes but if you wanta bag the mighty whitetail thats the price you have to pay right.

hey i finally got my run tarped off today! but its not good enough for the wife so i think we are gona do some modifications. i just used a brown tarp on the top and sides but she thinks reinforced clear poly would be better because it would have more of a greenhouse affect . i dont know what do you guys think?

well have a good one

I have a friend that has a huge coop, they built a run off the front and I think they only did plastic on the outside on like 3 sides to keep the snow from piling up and wind off their chickens.
Mine live in stalls for the winter, in a barn, so I put plastic up, top to bottom, with a vent section farthest away from the open door, and on the other side, in another stall, away from the more open windows.
pine shavings, and then where they roost, it has wood on top and will be covered on two sides by a mattress cover. They also have a dog kennel (plastic) in their roosting area, that has hay in it, they mostly sleep on top and lay eggs IN it..
We do not use lights or de-icer's for their water, my barn owner gives them warm water twice a day. We have never lost a chicken.

WcC, I have a few calls I could send your way. They are Mallard colored; a Drake and two Hens.

Ack! The FOG!!!! Maybe I will get my Christmas lights up this evening..........

Chris, I had the same issues with my account with the exception that I could still get online on the laptop. I would change the password thru BYC and yet that one connection would still work. No idea why either........

Nothing else new here except off to do the marathon drive once again!

Enjoy the day everyone!

Good Morning All! Well sort of. Was going to split this morning but now looks like a little later in the day. Laid in bed listening to it rain and gritting my teeth.

I too had issues with the password with the same outcome. BL4 hope you get your house sold so you don't have that long drive anymore. Bet it's already old. WCc sounds like your doing things right. cd and Bigz I always found that from 10 to 1 was very good hunting a lot of people head in for lunch or to warm up between those hours thereby moving deer. With the wet outside think it'll be a good morning to finally get my thank you's out to the motel and Red Cross done. Bigzio yes it is comforting to know there's enough wood out there to get us through, now I can get a jump on next years wood it'll be a almost a first. Hope your day is a good one1

Hi all! GC congrats on the chicks! Today is day 17 for my Cortunix eggs. I have 11 in and hoping for at least half. DD3 is helping me with the whole thing, so I at least need one to hatch or she will be crushed. 17 days is forever in 3 year old time. We made a calandar and have been marking the days off, so she knows something is suppose to happen today or tomorrow. Everyone keep you fingers crossed. This is also my first time batoring too. I'm having trouble keeping my fingers out of it. I want to shake them to see if they peep like chicken eggs do.

You would think I could be more patient. Also I dreamed about the eggs hatching last night. Woke me up at 330, so I had to get up to check. Nothing.

Wish me luck everyone. I'll post when something happens.
