Well at this point we haven't candled yet so there is no telling what is good or not,
My kids are planning on raising any that hatch for 4-H projects but we'll keep you posted.
This probably won't be the only incubation run we due- much to DH's dismay LOL

Hey guys. I'm having a depressing day. I don't know how much of these "tough times" I can handle anymore! It starts to eat at you, knowing it's getting so dang hard! I think we are going to have to apply for heating assistance

But whats more important to me? Keeping my baby warm at night or my pride? They cut me off my health insurance cause I didn't prove I was pregnant, so now I have to find time (and fax machine) to fax them in the paperwork! I hope they can up our foodstamps a bit, now that I am expecting, because $31 bucks isn't getting us too far! When they calculate your eligability they don't figure in cars and insurance, and if they did i'm sure we could get more foodstamps! I am thankful for these government plans and although I don't want to be on them, they really do help out. If I had to pay for health insurance right now we'd be 500 feet up sh!t creek if ya know what I mean! I just wish they'd look a bit closer at the families that really need the help (like us) and the people who play the system to get as much money as possible (not cool!). SIGH. Sorry for my rant of the day. It stemmed off not getting to make my yummy roasted red bell pepper soup cause we can't afford bell peppers and ricotta.

In other news, me and my girlfriend did make cookies. And a lot of them! I have to bring cookies up for christmas (we all bring a dish) and that is what I chose (between that and bell pepper soup). I made pistachio fingers, monster cookies, meragine clouds, peanut blossoms. My girlfriend made snickerdoodles, oatmeal raisins, choco rasp thumbprints, choco chip cookies and I think that's it. We split em half and half so now I got a TON of cookies. lol.

Wishing hubby would get paid for all his snow work! Still nothing! They are talking to their lawyers so they can figure out how to work it with the guys that are on unemployment, so they can still collect (seeing as it's such sparadic work) Good! Less we have to figure out! But because of that, they are still holding his check! Sheesh! He went out last night at 2am, and worked until 10ish. I think we are expecting $1000 bucks..which would take out almost two full bills! Which would be fantastic!

Alright, sorry about getting all into my personal life. Sometimes I just need to blurt out our problems to make them more noticeable to myself.

Gentle Afternoon All. I cleaned up the prolly 5" we were blessed with today. It was the heavy stuff for sure.
Good Luck cedar post with the bow hunt. my neighbor bagged a small 8 pointer last thursday, so keep the faith, there is still time. he placed some corn out to aid in more action and a closer shot.
Thanks again for all the great pics and stories. When i do get a new puter, I want to learn to post pics, and share some of the life here on the hill. I'm really puter stupid. I will learn those basic skills though.
I'm really pleased with the buckeyes. I'm collecting 7 eggs aday from 10 pullets. I never knew I'd be that pleased with a bunch of red heads....

Anyone interested in fertle buckeye eggs this spring, let me know. I think my 3 males are handsome, and they aren't manhaters. I have one that is very nice.
Hope everyone's plans for Christmas come together just as planned.
Stay safe.... ~ bigzio

BigZ, you should take some of the computer classes FVTC offers at the satellite locations (when you have spare time). You would be 'puter savvy in no time!

I took today off! Drove the kiddo in to school and headed right back here to veg out. Went and watched the Elementary school Christmas program at 2, then made cupcakes to take in to work tomorrow. I am hoping the roads improve for the drive in to Oshkosh in the AM.......

Made some homemade beef barley soup for dinner tonight along with garlic biscuits. Better get to it!

I can almost walk in your shoes. Sans pregnancy. If it weren't for the fact hubby works and pays for healthcare, we would be seriously screwed.
We are using a radiant heater in the living room, and a small space heater in the kitchen on a thermostat, and our reptile room is always on a space heater, our room has one too.. and roomie who lives in the
basement is using one too...
WHY.. we can't use our fuel oil heater, we can but hubby is allergic to the fumes. We have a replacement to do natural gas, but can't afford to get it installed.
Can you apply for WIC? its for moms to be isn't it??

Thanks a lot BL4, now the oldest wants a starfish...LOL. He just brought home 3 African Frogs and 2 Fiddler Crabs from school, so I am sure that will be enough for a while!!!

Christmas round one went pretty well, the boys were very surprised with new tool sets, and toys. Of course tonight they built snowmen, LOL.

Quail???? Hmm....sound tempting.

Well, enjoy blowing snow and slippery roads, Be Careful Out there All.

try WIC, I used it when DH was out of work. some of the rules are weird, but it helps. plus if you have kids under 5 they qualify too.

you might want to check with local churches, as most probably have some type of food pantry or if there is a local community center they would be able to help you with food items. Here in Dane Co there is a program called JFF(Joining Forces for Families) not sure what might be in your area like this, we have tenants that use this service, but something like this can help find other resorces to help.
