Good Evening Everyone! Glad to hear that everyone is getting ready for Christmas...I think my DH will be going shopping tomorrow...guess he likes to shop at the last minute!

I just got back from taking my friend to the airport. She is going to Kentucky for the holidays...I get to take care of her cats and horses. (just what I need!) Of course I just got a call now to come and pick up meds for the foster pups...didnt even know they needed meds! I guess I will go and get them tomorrow...I need to chill and then go to bed; gotta work again tomorrow! I cant believe that they are actually making meals tomorrow!
DrH--I didnt have to make them sit still...I found them like that! I just added the candy canes and the ornament! They lay up there like that all the time...in fact you couldnt see in the pic but there were 3 more lower down on the post. I am so happy that I got that thing! My DH had a fit but it sure keeps them off the furniture...I thought I got a pretty good deal for $50 plus a cat!

One time when DH and I took our kids (and 3 sisters from my daycare) to a restaurant we got compliments too...they were 2 years to 8 years...if they had all been ours I think I would have died! A baby every 12 months...I guess that's how it used to be done though! I sure miss those girls!

Good Christmas Eve Morning Everyone! Before I forget. We hope you all have a very merry Christmas! Surrounded by good friends, family and of course chickens. TO I hate to be the one to tell ya but everyone has to eat.

Bigz you know me too well sometimes. Let us know how the spoonbill tastes, will probably never get the chance to. Raiqee I too did the math and it came as a surprise. But not as surprised as I bet Dad was. Doesn't bother me in the least but know that when you call me the B word be prepared for me to agree with you.

We're planning on having chicken with all the fixins tomorrow then headed to the state line on Sunday for xmas. Dropped off a present for Emily the BFF's daughter yesterday. She took it and put it under the tree thanking me with a hug then said I wonder what it is? I told her it was a box of rocks. She looked at me in disbelief then picked it up again and shook it looked back at me and said NOOOO. I said well maybe it's just one and it's small. That drew another type of look.

Well all Have a great Christmas as we will be traveling from the east side of the state to the west today, then back home to check on the critters in the morning, then up to the north woods tomorrow, and then FINALLY back home. It will be good to see friends and family, But A LOT of driving. Be safe all, and don't forget to give your chickens a little Christmas treat!!!

Good morning! Finally got in touch with my guy about selling some birds! I think he wants 5 roosters and 5 ducks! Yeah...a few less mouths to feed all winter! (I wish he liked geese!) My dogs are playing with the cats and the parrots are going wild...just another "quiet" morning here at Oppyland! I wonder what they do when I am gone to work?
I checked the temperature in the chicken coop (finally got a thermometer) the other day and it was 43 degrees! Of course that is up at eye level for me so I dont know what it is at chicken eye level...

Probably a bit cooler. I was surprised it was that warm in there. This was when it was about 20 outside I believe. After I opened the doors it dropped to 39 pretty quickly. Do you guys have any idea of the temps in your coops? I think mine is just from the body heat of the birds...there is really no insulation to speak of and only a little appliance bulb that turns on with a timer. ('cause ya know I need more eggs!)

I feel bad for you guys that have to travel a whole bunch for the holidays! I love getting together with family but I dont care for the drive. It makes me too claustrophobic in the car with so many people I guess...that and DH drives and I dont care for the way he drives--he doesnt let me drive because he doesnt like how I do it either--oh brother...I wonder how we stayed married this long? Anyhow, if you are driving a ways be safe and not in a hurry! Also the police are out in force and you surely dont want THAT kind of present!
THe falling snow is so pretty out there! It is quiet except for the crowing of roosters! Well, and a little Holiday traffic on I94! The dogs are back in now and had a bunch of fun running and playing in the snow. well, off to work! Talk to you guys later--I hope Santa is good to all of you and your chickens too! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

We had DH's best friends come over. They have a son who is a month older than my DS and another son that is about 9 months. We had the two older ones exchange gifts, but I made sure the one I got for their son the little one could play with too. DS got a Thomas the train flashlight, which he was soooo excitied for. He LOVES Thomas the train. He saw Thomas's face in the wrapping paper, gasped and said "Thomas!" and ripped the wrapping paper right off! I hope hes like that for Christmas this year, hes always so mellow. Be a kid already! lol. I got their son a toy story toy cause I wasn't too sure what their son was "into" and hes not really into anything as much as my DS is. He seemed to like it, but I know in a month or so it will be forgotten lol.

I told hubby he could go out hunting today, as hes been working so hard between actual work and taking care of DS that he deserved a day to himself. He'll be home relatively early so we can still have a nice Christmas Eve together

I hope he gets a deer, wouldn't that be an awesome gift for us?

I have a couple christmas gifts to finish up for hubby (eh, if I can't get em done I'll give it to him for his bday in Jan) I have his alpaca hat half knitted, and I wanted to make him a book of home-brew recipes I found online. DH doesn't really go online, so he'd appreciate the book. I figured to leave the page next to it blank so he can put in any recipe modifications that he likes and it would be his very own beer cookbook!

I just need to dig up an old notebook like thing i'm not using and gift it to him. I think he'll love it. Gonna check on baby's nap break and assemble it.

Anyone got some yummy special meals for xmas eve? Traditionally we ate prime rib, but not this year! lol. Maybe we will cook up some nice venison tho. Not sure. Depends when hubby will be home and what he wants to do.

Happy Holidazed!!Everyone!
I have been working 3 jobs this week, House/Horse/cat/n dog sitting, horse n sheep caring/mucking, nannying, and when I can, work with the 6 horses I generally work with a few days a week.
So up at 4:40 or 5 am, from either my house or the house I stay at every other night, feed the hoards of cats and dog, 3 horses then off to the sheep, and then off to be a nanny at 7:15 or so in the morning till
about 3, so today I got off early.
I am making venison soup/stew for x-mas eve, we have a dear friend over, and are going to another dear friend's home (ditching the relatives), for dinner and movie!! I am also making triple chocolate chunk brownies!

Managed to get two batches of peanut brittle done, oldest DD baked up some sugar cookies, and I decided to try making English toffee. Still have chocolate crinkles to make and ginger cookies...... and it is only 6 PM??????


Tomorrow morning it is sausage and bacon with baked french toast!!!!! Along with a GIANT espresso!!!!!

Christmas Eve To All....Hope everyone has a great time this year through the Holidays. I kinda stress a little this time of year, however the older i get, the less stressful it feels someway.
