Evening All... Yep i agree with BCC that caring for the flock is in our hands pretty much. I would recommend The Chicken Health Handbook by Gail Damerow as a should have for use as needed. Mine is opened quite often. I'm willing to share with a symptom look up and possible problem for folks if they would like. Some symptoms are the result of breeding, and some are chronic, it all depends. Some are treated with different meds, with good results.
A clean environment, and good nutrition keep most at bay.

Hey guys! Hope everyone had a fun christmas!!!

We had a great christmas. Lots of good food, good company and good times! Although I was the only sober one (Hubbys family likes their wine...a BIT too much!) we played apples to apples, which turned into a funny drunkie game. Stayed up til midnight, and then was TIRED. The resort DH's parents rented for us is super nice, we have a whirlpool tub in our room!!! Going to get into that tonight, my body is just been aching me so bad the last few days. Too bad I can't have a nice glass of wine tho! (Well, I guess now you can, but I still won't. It's not worth it to me. Plus, I never know what I can do or can't do anymore!!!)

Still planning my garden like mad. Want to get an order in for some fruit trees/berry bushes. I want to increase our strawberry plant patch and get some blueberry plants as I think I got skunked on our blueberry twigs we got last year. I also want to get maybe one or two fruit trees and put them in pots. So I can take them when we move (within a few years) but I think it may be more of a hassle than it's worth. I just want to be able to keep them warm come winter and still maybe get some fruit. We'll see. Obviously talking about dwarf trees here.

Need to order seeds for sure though, I am going to be so mad if I miss my "spring" garden opprotunity again!

Going to jump in the whirlpool with my fancy glass of caffeine free pepsi! lol.

Good Morning Everyone! Sounds like everyone had a very good holiday. Gonna have to check the M&M chicken thingy congrats BCC! ODrh cool pics of your roo's don'tcha just love it when they raise their hackles? I was here all along Bigz but spent xmas day in the chair with a heating pad. Don't know what I did but the muscles in my back were tighter than a banjo string. And yesterday we went to Delevan to do xmas with L's family. Had the seat heater on both directions and it seems to have done the trick on the muscles. I don't get down there very often always busy around here so it was really good to do so. Had a really good time! One of L's brothers girlfriend [Lori] was asking about chickens. Think I might have started something. Gonna throw a little fuel on the fire and send her some pics of the kids.

Took about 2 doz. eggs with and split them up between her fam but made sure that Lori got the lions share. He He He! Been getting 5-7 eggs a day out of the 10 girls even if the poult eggs are mostly on the small side. But there's a couple a day that are now in the large catagory. The slw's are very very protective of their eggs and won't let me under them without trying to tear me a new one. So I leave them alone. Hope you all have a good Monday!

Ha you are funny BCC! I spent 15 mins or so going through the entries for the chicken contest! How fun! Looks like you won a Platinum membership too hey? I was wondering why your status on line was RED! Way neat! So what are the bennies for platinum? I was thinking about giving myself a golden membership for my birthday...
Seriously thinking of firing up my incubator too...I just bought it in the summer so I havent tried it yet. Maybe will just start it up and see if it holds a nice temp and humidity. I saw the buttons mating the last fes days so I am betting that it wont remain empty for long!

Pretty soon it will be time to add the nesting box to the parrot's cage too....I am sooooo excited to make a parrot baby!
Yesterday I went to F&F and got a bunch of stuff for pets! Spent all my Christmas $$$ very easily! The horses will be thrilled with their new heated barrel I am sure! Fresh warm water all around!
Well, gotta run...I am out of corn and the birds are famished as usual...off to the mill. Have a fantastic day everyone! Oh yeah--

Yea!!! GO PACK!!!
We have a pretty big Packer contingency here on the Ca far north coast. It's good to outnumber the opposing team. Even the bartender where we go to see games that aren't on local TV says he likes the Packer fans the best (we tend to be a bit more subdued and polite than most other teams' fans).
Awesome Christmas - my aunt sent 2 bottles of Door County Cherry wine...

Best wine in the world, if you ask me!!!

Hi everyone, our chickens are doing fine, the young OEGB's are doing well. I certainly will have 2 roos and 2 hens.
We are kicking our free loading roommate out, as it seems he stole our niece's xmas present, we had it in one spot and its gone...he is the only one who has a key to the house. And
nothing else is missing. It was the last straw in a long list of bad things....

I rode my client's horse last week, he needs a bit of work as he kept wanting to stop at the gate.. bad horse no bisquit!!

Evening All... Hope your back feels better soon Doc. I delt with that most of my working career....for sure a pain in the back is enough to make me crabby at least!
Good Luck with the hatch BCC. I know alot of folks that are really ready to get started again. Jim hatched a couple Sebastopols already and has company in the basement with him for a while. He said he put the bators away....

I should of known better!

Finally had a chance to do the tree viewing thing at the kids houses. My youngest daughter loves green. her tree was green lights and green balls....simply beautiful. my son's was a huge tree also pretty as could be.

Good to be back to venzun cheesburgers and fryed tatoes with onions tonight.... the way it's suppose to be here on the hill!
