David,

I have gotten most of my stuff at Fleet Farm also. There is a heated waterer there for about $35 that I have found works well for us, since we get mighty cold here.

Where area are you in WI? There is a co-op by Green Bay that I get my feed from. They have always been knowledgable and very nice to me.

I get waterers from the local Dairy Supply guy, he brings them to me and I give him chickens...LOL

I use plastic ones, and sanitize them weekly. I purchased my heat lamps from the local hardware store. I am kind of an Organic freak so I get all my feed from a local Organic feed supplier. Hmm. what else.....Fleet Farm sells nice feeders, as well as bedding. I get birds from many places, I grew up buying from Murray McMurray, so I have a soft spot for them, but I will be getting birds from Meyer this year as well going to try Purely Poultry and Stromburgs.

The only basics you need to know, well one really, is this: chickens will steal your heart. Thats it in a nutshell.

David, We used a large cardboard box for the chix till they got bigger. I think a plastic one would be better next time for cleaning. I've seen pictures of others that used them and I think that will be our next one. Everyone is so helpful here

. He lives in Neenah so any help is welcome. He is a small guy that works hard, is always on time and doesn't miss work. Took some welding classes at NWTC in High School. Thanks for listening to a Mom who worries. Stay warm and sleep tight. Sue

thanks so much for the replies.
I live in Wausau, we have a fleet farm and a few little feed mills in the area so I think I should be fine.

Good Morning Everyone! otonoh have I got a deal for you! I have all the feeders and waterers that you would ever need. I have metal and plastic, you decide what type you need and give me $5 for gas and I'll meet you half way. Or come for a visit and they'd be free except you might want to bring a treat for the kids they always expect anyone that shows up to bring them something. ie the mail lady, UPS guy, neighbor. I got them from a guy for nothing and would like to give them to someone that needs them. And it would help thin out the "good stuff'. Let me know if your interested. -5 here this AM Brrr! Throwin another log on over here boss. Heading to Rudolph this morning with the BFF to pick up our dead cow.

And make a cheese stop. Then back to do more material figuring for the IRS.
