Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning Everyone.... That's really neat that you know about Kropf's Meats amyable. They always run a special on pork in February, either halfs or whole hogs cut to your liking. They have tasty hams and bacon for sure. The last one we just had side pork instead of bacon....we really like that.

Doc the camp has a coffee pot in the lodge. We will just need to provide the coffee. If someone has a favorite brand they have to drink then go ahead and bring it otherwise I can provide that also. The bunks are an option for sleeping or the many couches in the main room have been slept on too.

My Niece served a tour in Iraq and was having trouble coping with civilian life after her tour. I suggested she stay at camp to get away from it all. She spent a week there sleeping in front of the fireplace on one of the couches and grilling most of her meals outside. Long walks did the trick and she was really glad she stayed there! Just thought I'd share that.

Yep I'm gonna watch da bears too. ~ bigzio

This is what we have been doing! Jen's daughter had to go to show dogs today in Oshkosh so we are taking care of the baby...it is a "school baby" for a class at her HS. I guess it kept her up all night last night...what a great way to dissuade kids from getting pregnant! Actually we arent having any trouble at all...but we've HAD newborns before! Now here are the dogs. A pic of Mom and babies:

THey are Curly Coated Retrievers. Cami only had 4 so that is a little sad but for a first litter I guess not too bad. My friend says that they are pretty huge for only one week old.

Small world! These must be SunDevil Curlies!! I know Grace from the world of dog shows

She is one fantastic kid!

ok everyone i cant believe it! Hubby said we could make a brooder out of an old wood storage box that we have. He said I can keep my babies in the house! He will make a sturdy screen to put over the top so the cats cant get into it.

So I should be able to order my babies this week!

I'm thinking

Easter Eggers
Welsummers
Light Brahmas
Turkens
and either Cochins or cuckoo marans

minimum order is 25, so im thinking 5 of each?
What do you think?

Are you only looking for hatchery chicks? If you aren't I have a bunch of chicks right now that are a few weeks old including Cuckoo Marans, an Easter Egger, and a bunch of others. I also have some older hens about to start laying that I don't want but don't have the heart to kill. I have bantam cochins, a brown leghorn, and others.

Well if anyone else needs any new birds. I am really trying to cut down my flock and only keep the ones I really want because it is costing too much time and money keeping birds I don't want. Since all my birds have to be kept indoors it takes A LOT of work to keep so many birds. I will be pretty much giving away a bunch of started chicks and point of lay pullets. So if anyone is interested just PM me.

Good Morning All! Bigz good idea for the niece hope she adjusts. So many never will. See their talkin 2-4 today. I took the cover off the tractor transmission can't see anything that looks broken of worn excesively, everything is moving. The cover also holds the shifting forks brought it in to warm it up. It didn't want to work at first but now seems to be, kinda hard to tell. Gonna but it back on this morning and see. Hoping it jammed up at the end of the push and now everything is OK.
