Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I hope so. I have had people telling me I would be getting eggs "any day now" since they were 16 weeks. Also the breeder I got the B.O.s from said she has been working on her line for 8 years and they are great at laying all year round and start laying at 20 weeks.

Evening All... Sure was a dandy Day out there today. I managed to get a couple apple trees pruned today. Prolly work on some more tomorrow.
Hope you folks with the colds get better soon. It sucks to have one this time of year.
Goth usually the peeps hatched in spring or early summer will lay by fall, however peeps hatched ln the early fall usually won't lay till spring. Like Jim said around 7 months. Won't be long now!
Jim, you should of had a glass or two of wine with mom....then you both could sing together
hugs.gif
then Ken could join in for a trio...
Thanks for the pic Doc...don't think I've seen that one before.

Have Fun.... ~ bigzio

I had BO's for years.. they never layed before 26 weeks..

BigZ , re: your post,,, what time of year is the best time to have a cold ?LOL
I will have my wine after I have my whine..

I will just figure out how to turn it on and have a go at it..eh?

I say go for it Jim!!! What can you hurt anyhow? Dont you have that really smart Grandson (or somebody) that can fix it anyway?

I am having a glass of wine with your Mom right now...and I LOVE Christmas carols! I will see if I can find your address and I will send her a Christmas card....Maybe you oughta PM me with her name and the addy....

Hey GOth--not to make you mad but I picked up 46 eggs today!

(sorry, couldnt resist bragging a little!) And who was it that said they got 3 bags of layer for $27??? THat is REALLY cheap! My layer is nearly $13 for 50#! WHen I first had chickens it was $6.55/50#! Yup--and when I can sell a doz eggs it is STILL the SAME price! I give most of mine away...only sell about 3 doz a week and that certainly doesnt keep the girls in mash!

DH is working on fixing the bator...we want to get a fan in there...RAIMNEL--where are you??!!!!

Took a ride with the horse tonight...I took my new dog (in the Avitar) along and she did great! She only got stepped on once in the dooryard and then stayed right behind us all the way! I was so glad...I have started working with her on ducks too...not sure if she gets the idea yet or not...

TOmorrow I am heading to Milwaukee...meeting my GF for breakfast and then maybe going downtown to the restaurant supply and to see my son for his birthday. Not sure what he has for classes as yet. OK--I am heading up to read my book...sweet dreams to all! Terri O

Dr Ha Ha, he really DOES look like his dad. Different comb though.

I remember.

He looks proud.

I'm looking forward to the heat wave tomorrow. I did hope to get in another ride or two. But I guess that's how it goes.

P.s. If there's any one near me who has Mottled Cochin Bantams for sale, I'm interested. Please PM me.

Ok, went out to the coop to do chores and took a beak from raking and sat on the bench to watch the ladies. Kosher fallowed me out (she likes attention) and stood in the clean spot in front of me and pooped! So I cut my break a bit short, grabbed a hand full of straw and the shovel to clean it up. As I was bending over I thought it looked a bit runny and light... then I looked closer....WORMS!!!!

I guess she was trying to let me know! LOL I knew she was a smart bird!

Well, I called T.O. to let her know that Turk probably has them too

Embarrassing yes! But there is a point to it. A couple of months ago I got hens from a guy on CL. (and I'm not saying never buy from CL) but when he brought them before I had a chance to say "They'll be going in the other room", he dumped them in with my others.

ALWAY QUARANTINE NEW CHICKENS!!!! I probably should have just dewormed right away too but I didn't

O-well!

I did find something interesting that you may, or may not have seen while I was looking for information on de-worming.....

Good Froggy Morning People! Think I'm over the hump with this cold.

Jim sounds like you have some interesting conversations with your mom. Hope she doesn't get too frustrated with her condition. But like they say what you don't know won't hurt you. As long as she's happy is all that counts. Cind hope you get your worms under control. fm his comb looks a lot bigger but it could be because he's not full grown. He's 25+ weeks now. Think that with him being raised with only one hen was a mistake. He follows her everywhere. If she goes in a nest box he stands right outside and won't leave until she comes out. When she'd lay in the appartment he'd guard that egg as if it was his. I learned to distact him to get the egg otherwise he'd whack me a good one. When Buster mounts her he goes right after him then Buster goes after him. Hope when Peatwo is big enough to mount the other hens it might quiet down. His tail feathers need to fill in too. Bigz that was new pic had to go on line to get the camera reset, can't find the manual must have put it in something for the flood. I have a pretty good idea who scratched all the feed out of the feeder [on the left] in that pic. They're both in that pic. SNOTS! Going to take a hard look at the bathroom remodel today. I must be feeling better thinking maybe a beverage of my choice a little later.

Morning all!
I have to watch my niece today its her 3rd day home being sick, not that it means much since her teachers are at the capitol. Her mother is about to disown the grandmother, she watched her yesterday and she only ate
breakfast, she didn't insist that the 5 yr old drink more or eat something for lunch.. so at 5 ish, I get a call as my niece has a temp of 103...
Good thing I am already sick, I think I got Dr H's cold.
I am hoping I can ride this morning, but probably not.
My QT chickens are settling in at home. Still not real friendly but they are quiet and cute.

See you later.
Carol
