Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good afternoon!/Evening! Just got back from work and am "enjoying" a Gluten-free beer..........this one is much better than that Redbridge..YUK!

Sure wish someone would figure out how to make a decent Porter or darker beer. This one is called New Grist. Bottled in Milwaukee. Not too bad but a tad bitter.

My dd25s friend told me about an Amish Country Store near here...went today with my client and it was fabulous! I will definitely be going back there! THey have just a ton of "good stuff" for me and lots of other stuff that I use-powdered pectin, clear jel. popcorn etc! I was so excited!

Welcome Tom! Our bash will be at a camp near Clintonville. Here is the link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=440158&p=1
Check
it out! I am sure you could get the chicks that you want then...we do have many members that are up that way too if you wanted eggs earlier. Certainly withing your 2 hour time! I wish you were closer to me...I am getting so many eggs that I am giving them away! We will have them for dinner again tonight....mine right now are "Barnyard Stars" a breed that I carefully regulate

(kidding!) THey are fantastic layers though!

THe new finches and guinea are doing well. THe cat did decide to knock the cage with the English ones down last night...no harm done but my package of zip-ties sure cam in handy! Hey DrH...be sure to take a video of you and L dancing on the new floor! Did you make more progress today of are you too sore? Soon it is time to add my chicken eggs to the incubator...I now have 1 humidity gauges and 2 thermometers....I sure wish I would have seen that post on calibrating before I put them in there! Standard 99* with 61% humidity and digital with 102* and 47%. Not sure which one I should believe. I think I will post this in incubation thread and see what nonsense people can tell me!

Welcome Tomski! I'm 20 minutes south of Green Bay. Just have a laying flock of a bunch of different breeds, but plan to sort out a quad of Anconas in the spring, and I have an Ameraucana roo in with the other hens. Might try to hatch some olivey-eggers with a broody; I have a few dark egg layers in with the Ameraucana.
The meet is in Clintonville, end of June. There's a thread on it in the chickenstock forum. Hope to see you there

Thank you for your service, Tomski.

I wish I were closer (work in Waukesha), I'd donate some Marans eggs to your cause along with a few F1 Olive Egger (Ameraucana eggs from Marans roosters). Also have some chicks due to hatch 1st week of March - 16 in the incubator).

My 2nd son was a Marine for 8 years he's been out for about 5 years now. He was on the 2nd ship into Afghanistan if you are interested. I don't remember all the details of his service, but who knows... you MAY have crossed paths!

I also have a cousin that lives in Manitowoc WI. I think this group can get you up and running soon! Good Luck!

Well, I just stopped by to check in. My sick chicken is gaining weight and as soon as her color gets a bit better she can go home to her friends! All the others seem to be doing fine and are giving me 5 to 7 eggs a day.... for the 8 of them I think that's great!

They are also getting a bit better with the snow! lol At least they will step off the straw to grab a treat.... then run back to it!

Well, GN and GL with all your projects!

Morning!!!! (can't believe I beat Jim AND Dr. H on here.......)

Welcome Tomski!!!!

I was just asked last night to incubate more eggs for somebody. They are looking for nice calms birds like the EE's they have, but I would also like to toss in another breed. Currently their flock consists of some BO's, an Austrolorpe, a Windotte or two, and the EE's. They do NOT want any more of the BO's.

So if anybody has suggestions feel free to PM me!

TO, I was going to send you a link that had info on Gluten Free beers but apparently you have found it! From what I have read, your tase buds will acclimate to the GF brands and once they do you will not want the 'normal' beers.

Off to the races once again! Have a good day everyone!

good morning, I got to sleep in until 7AM this morning..

Mom's new trick is to slide out of bed and lay on the floor.
Did I mention how bull-headed she is? we could put side rails on but then she climbs over, and that could result in a good fall.
Today she would not let us pick her up.. did I mention that she can be bull-headed? so we let her try to get up by herself for a few minutes, until she finally let us help..

I have to get going soon.. My SIL has a northern that my nephew caught yesterday.. He loves to fish, they do not eat fish.. I do..

I might have to take a picture of this one.. If he is not lying, it is 40 inches .. they have to be over 32 inches from the Eau Pleine..

One of my other nephews caught a 48 inch northern..he had it mounted..

C U later

Well, DrH must be really sore today...he hasnt even checked in! So good late morning...I got caught up in the Celiac board this morning first thing. It makes me feel better to know that there are others out there....
The incubator is at 102 and 16% today...guess that is OK.
Tonight I am going to a meeting in Madison--west side. It is with a pet care business that I am thinking of joining. I want to start my own and I figured this would be a good way to "get my feet wet" so to speak. She needs help in this area so I though I would give it a shot.

Well--I guess I better get dressed and get to straightening up this house! I have GF flours to mix too...then I can do some baking! YEAH! (I will post pics if I get to it)
Have a fantastic day everyone...it is sunny-GET OUTSIDE!!! Terri O

Hey Terri- let me know how that pet care thing goes. Maybe the person needs help in the south of WI too... just a thought.

Welcome Tomski- my DH is a former active marine (they are NEVER ex-marines.. EVER!) LOL he worked on the first harriers, and was in a test squadron.
I was the Marine Corps taxi service (aka) the navy.

The two buff bantam brahma's are doing great, no coughs, no wheezing.. they are tearing up the newspaper faster than I can replace it. Thank goodness for linoleum!
They are going out to the coop today!

We are looking to move out of the city. We looked an an upper half of a house in Monroe, but not sure if they want a younger couple w/ out dogs.. although I made it perfectly clear
we had 2 smaller/med sized dogs, we even brought them with us. Then went and looked at a cottage in outter New Glarus, 49 acres, barn, cute little house, we would not be able to keep
our chickens or horses there...they were into restoring the prairie, were going to get hogs, the place was up for sale.. but we couldn't bring our animals except the dogs...
Why bother then? I think they were more interested in some one who shaves a tad less, and a few other things.

There was an ad for a house near where we keep our horses and chickens, I thought it would be gone, but talked to the owner for 45 minutes last night, we know a lot of the same people. OR if I don't then my
barn owner does, and they probably know each other, their kids probably went to school together ooo so long ago.
We couldn't have the horses , but maybe have the chickens there, but we would be closer to the horses, and paying less in rent as well. Hope to see that place on Weds.

Wish us luck!!

See his foot? He did a somersault in the water he was so happy! This is the first day I have filled the pool since last fall. All the birds took their turns in there then sat to the side and preened themselves like crazy! I bet that felt so good to them---they are all so dirty!

Off to the mill. T
