Good "almost" afternoon everyone!

Candled the eggs in the bator last night and the only ones I can see anything in are the Lav Orps - The Favors/Dominiques & Buffs are just too dark to see anything yet. The flashlight I'm using just isn't strong enough and It's too much a pain in the but to try and do it with my spotlight - sooo I've got a fire going in the garage and I'm gonna make a coffee can type candler. Any suggestions as to the size of bulb to put in there?

More snow up here today - Big flakes too. I don't think it will be sticking around much though - the roads are basically just WET...(so far)

Im back! I got there at about 645 and waited in line to get in. Left at 8. Saw FM and BCC there. Nice swap and if I wanted pheasants right now, thats where I would have got them. Well this is what I got. Saw them and drooled, then came back and they were still there so i brought them home. They are exactly what I wanted too. The hen is young, couple months and the roo is alittle older, a snot too. Will have to teach him whos in charge.

So, instead, I got a pair of self blue Old English Game Bantams, adorable and hysterical, and a very beautiful Mille d'Uccle pullet. <3

Hi WI friends!

Can you help me?

I am looking for high quality bulk feed for our chickens and pigs. We do grass-fed everything until the winter. We've been using chicken feed from Fleet Farm and/or getting barrels of corn down the road. I am worried about GMOs in the corn and Fleet Farm feed is getting expensive.

Questions:

We live near Hudson, WI on the far west side of the state. Do you know where we can get reputable bulk feed in our area?
Can we have bulk feed delivered?
How many animals should we have to make bulk feed a reasonable idea?

Thanks for your help!!

:)

Annie

Good afternoon everyone, went to fondy today and picked up the new standard of perfection from Tyler I've always wanted one. So tonight and for awhile I'll be reading and looking at that. Sold two trios of LF columbian wyandottes they seem to sell prety well. Have a great evening.
Anniemary were you at fondy? I met a lady that is a teacher from Hudson and is picking up hatching eggs from me and my dad this comming week to hatch in class.

Becky, that's so funny. After I was talking to you the last time, Jaki came over and told me about the girl. I almost bought her too. But I really want babies. FUNNY!

I got 4 Easter eggers, 2 Buff Orps. and a really pretty BLUE Polish. My oldest wanted a Polish so bad. She's very nice. All the babies I got were sexed female. Yeah!

I got to see of course Becky, and Tyler from Purely Poultry, Cedar Post, Buck Creek Chickens and two of her kids, a friend of mine from here in Waupaca that I went to school with, Terri, and of course Paul the auctionier from PK Auctions.

My chicken is doing great. It's got a nice scab over the cut now. She is eating and drinking. A little bruising, but well.

I'm so happy!

BTW: BL4...it's "Chipmunk" that had surgery.

Breezy Afternoon All... Good to hear you guys that went to Fondy had a good time.
Way to go fm...glad everything is going good with you and the peeps.
Met with Jim today for a coffee and conservation...delivered 5 doz Buckeye eggs for hatching...I hope the hatch goes well!
Annie, you should be able to find a local feed mill nearby for prices. Even if you don't go bulk, the prices will be much better. I save almost $3 a bag compared to fleet farm, and the layer mash is 2% higher protein.

Nice lookers Becky...think you did good!

Later..... ~ bigzio

Glad you guys had a good swap! I went to Madison to drop off one of my friend's puppies. The last time I saw him he was only a week old! A very nice lady from Minneapolis came to meet us with her two adult Curlies. I dont know...I dont think I could do it--sell a pup from a breeding I did. I guess maybe it is different with show dogs. You can see them at the shows and cheer them on. On the way back I stopped at H&Rs and picked up two pairs of chicks from her; a Welsummer pair and a pair of Wheaton Americaunas. Hopefully more color for my egg basket--IF I dont hatch them all! I think I will try showing them at our fair this year to see how they do. I just got my open class entry form in the mail today.
ODrH--I have your Wheaton too! Cheryl said she was going to call you...so she's half way home! You can just get her next week if you want (I am sure she wont eat too much by then;))
On the way back we took hwy BB and saw a group of folks that were walking to Madison from Milwaukee. They sure looked chilly! There were a bunch of cars waiting for them on hwy 73...maybe they were getting a ride the rest of the way? How the wind felt while we were standing outside I sure hope so!
DH is harping on me about getting those chicks in the basement...Cheryl--how come you get to keep yours in your kitchen???

Well--supposed I better get the steaks on--cant wait for them! Then to move the chicks to the basement.....

Have a great night! Terri O
