Anyone have break too? Any plans? Not for me, just hanging out with my chickies. LOL.
Can't wait till this winter is over...seems like it's been eons since I saw grass. I'm so anxious to start golfing!

that is not completely correct, if your friend has a flock of birds you need to find out if they have been tested, they might be a WI certified flock, then you do not need to test, it all ready done, all you need is a copy of the Wi certified flock number, your done. if they haven't been tested you need to talk to the flock owner and see if they want the whole flock tested (not necessary) or just the birds you want to show, whole flock WI certified flock good for a year, or Individual test which is good for 90 days, the price for it depends on the tester, I charge $1 a bird, some add gas and/or a flat fee. I don't. there is no application, just a copy of the results, if individual you need to have the bird marked (i.e. numbered, tagged, cable tied), whole flock not nessary, if whole flock the state will send the flock owner a flock number. you will need copies to give the fair superintendent/swap keeper, you keep the original (flock owner), your tester will also have a copy, they also send a copy of the test to the state. also you need a premise ID for showing in the state of WI, the number is for where the birds are kept, not your house

I'm a tester and have been testing for 6 years, I'm also the Winnebago Country Fair Superintendent for Poultry

also you do not need a number on a bird for showing, that is up to you , its a good idea, but not necessary

Jim was wore out by the time I finished reading your post, oh wait already was. H to get old! zsazsa glad to hear from you too! So many only check in only once in awhile. BCC Thanks for keeping up on your license and offering to help people! You are a good person! But I already knew that and it's gotta be a pain sometimes! Did I ever mention that I LOVED your cabbage? Both saws fired up but haven't tried the splitter yet. Ended up doing some more insulating and drywalling around the back side of the B'room. Got rid of alot of chunks of drywall. Pres Starky has a saying. He says things are gettin better! L will be home soon then has to go back in for 4 more. Poor baby! But she says I've been a good boy and is buying me a big boxObeer!

Big boxObeer is home and so is L!

The splitter started second pull after sitting all winter. Took 3 attempts to get it out the yard. With the weight of the blade on it the front end sunk in 6". Need to gas up the tires and I'm back in business. I love it when things go right! Just liked I planned them. For once, maybe twice. OK more often than not. But I planned it that way!

Cool! Thanks BCC for the clarification! My tester gave me a copy of the Wisconsin Tested Flock Enrollement Application and said that the state would send me a document (that must be the flock number from the state). He also stated that I need to take that with me to shows and swaps and to had out copies to any person I sell birds to and I need to get their name, address and what they bought and turn in that info into the State within 10 days of the sale.
It is interesting that here in WI that a numbered leg band is not needed for show. When I showed in CA for years, if a bird was not numbered, they were not allowed to show. You have to indicate the leg band number on the show application. The birds could have a numbered wing band and still be admitted.

Thanks for the clarification! I have never heard of the Premise ID - could you elaborate more on that? What does it involve, is it tied into the Pullorum testing? I think for the Waukesha County Fair they have a space on the entry form for band #. I will probably band them when I have them tested so I know which I tested and which we're taking to the fair. I suspect she has never had her flock tested. I can ask her, but I doubt she would want them all tested since she keeps them for her own enjoyment: egg laying and watching them free-range on her property. She does keep her Bantams separate and they don't free-range, but it is awesome seeing all the different breeds walking around out there. I could stand and watch them for hours. A lot of times they end up in the horses' stalls and I keep wondering if they lay eggs in the straw bedding.

I am going to plan on bringing my son out a few times a week to handle the birds he will show. I don't think they've had a lot of handling.

Thanks again for all the information!!! I'll let everyone know what shipment date I'm given. I ordered from one of this site's sponsor's Chicken's for Backyards. I was amazed at how many places required 15-25 minimum orders and a lot of the places seemed to have a lot of "not available" for the birds we were looking at. Through this site, I was able to get 5 - an assortment of Bantams. It should be fun to see what we end up with. Just starting out, I am not concerned with if they are Best in Show Champions - and I know my son will love them and enjoy participating the in the fair by showing poultry.

Thanks again!!
Mary

the Application he gave you needs to be finished by him, some testers let the flock owner fill most of it out, I know I do, WI tested is the same as NPIP except its free, and you need to check if the state you are sending to or showing in, to see if they accepts it as NPIP. so how long where you in CA? just so you know if you sell and ask people to fill out that form a lot will not, they don't like to be recorded. I'm just saying that so you know. I'm not saying not to try.

ID is a state law that most people hate, me included, but if you want to show or sell you need one, it is a state form of NAIS, it is a record, number (I don't know if I'm saying that right) so the state know where farm animals are located if there is a disease out brake. so they say. its for where your birds are kept. check with the property owner about it, if you have a problem PM me and I can help you
