good morning all, I am up earlier than I planned to be.. got an early phone call.. my eggs are ready to be picked up..

Is anybody from here close to Mukwonago ??

Now the lone goose egg is starting to worry me.. No pip. Later today I am going to float test it..

Played cards last night and then afterwards just sat around and talked for a couple of hours.. I caught a brother and sister cheating and after they left, we discussed it.. It has been going on for some time.. Another guy also caught what I did, so it was not my imagination.. We are trying to come up with a diplomatic way to tell them that we know what is going on..We could counter-cheat, but then what is the sense of even playing, eh? We could do it the cowboy way and shoot them,, LOL

I got the phone call today too. Way to early for me since I didn't get to bed until 3am. Getting the bator ready for the Easter Hatch Along.
Looked out the window to find DH's chocolate lab puppy shaking one of my chickens like a rag doll !!!

Now on top of everything else I have a wet chicken here in the living room (what else is new) trying to dry her off and warm her up.

Hey Jim, did you miss my post ?? Do you have guineas?? Do ya sell eggs??? I would like to hatch out some more guineas and I have a neighbor that wants some but I have way more cocks then hens.

Good Morning All... I say use the cowboy method of keeping the game honest!

Slowly melting here too! Still a couple feet to go. Looks like the snow will still be here for the turkey opener.

Ft Jim must of missed that. I think he can help you out though.

New puter is here. Jennie is gonna get er set up sometime today. I think she will be wanting to drive her new wheels around, rather than be at dads house working.

Good evening! I think I might be getting better.....still sneezing but maybe I will be able to taste my dinner...must be the rum and cokes! DH just put the chops on and the kids in charge of setting the table have disappeared! How did I ever find them to tell them what to do without cell phones? Oh here they are now...

Well good morning! I never did get to finish this post last night! SO here I am in the morning again. DD19s boyfriend is nice...very quiet. What I really liked about him is that he joined right in and helped; UNLIKE dd25s beau who just sits around and watches! (drives me nuts) When I ask him to do something he always seems to have an excuse or complains...I wish she would be just a little responsive to what I'd like to tell her! Anyhow...that was enough family for one night and tonight we are spending all together too...but in a restaurant--so they will "behave."

Hey Jim...think there could be a splash chick in with the blues I bought from you? THere is one that is getting black feathers among the blue. He looks cool!
I hope everyone survived yesterday with the pranks...I was kind of glad I stayed home! Well, I better read what you all had to say...probably will be back to comment! Have a fantastic day! Terri O

Happy Weekend!

The snow here in Menominee is still about a foot in some places... A few bare grass spots are starting to appear in the more sunny areas. I can't wait for warmer weather! - I've got to drop my posts for the run.

Well, out of 12 shipped eggs, three hatched. I've got three Pure Lavender Orpingtons chicks - Looks like two boys and one girl. I also stopped by TSC and picked up some pullets; five black two golden Sexlinks. So I have a few chickies in the brooder out in the garage. I've been keeping it relatively warm at night by lighting a fire in the wood stove, but brooder temp is still pretty chilly by morning (mid 70's - low 80's) even with the heat lamps. It warms up nice during the day - staying at around 85ish. Temps don't seem to be hurting the chicks much.

If I sexed the Lavender's right, I'll end up with two roosters - I only want one. So, it'll either go to freezer boot camp, or swapped/traded.

Only a few things to comment on....maybe folks are sleeping in today? Cool on the post office calls! More eggs to hatch. I hope L's pizza was the best ever drH! SO Bigz...does the new computer mean that we will see some pics of your stuff soon? I didnt quite understand the car comment...did you get your daughter a new car for setting up your computer?

Jim--my brother lives in Mukwanago and my BF drives through all the time on the way to my place...are you picking up chicks from the Araucana guy? THat is quite a haul from your place! If you go, after you wave at N for H&R, you will shortly pass Lake Mills and then HWY Q...wave to the left and you will be waving at me! Or if you need a break in driving let me know and I will meet you at McDs for a coffee!
Too bad on the low hatch Tomski! Good that you got them some "friends." Better luck next time! My hatch was crap too...I have to look at that hatching page again. When I took the eggs out yesterday (after leaving them cook an additional 5 days) I only had 2 or 3 early quitters and the rest were fully formed again but no pips! THat ticked me off! THe button eggs had quite a few more clears but again several that looked ready to hatch! Now I am determined to "get it right" I wonder if a hen would hatch some button eggs along with regular chicken eggs? Anybody ever try this?
On that cheating thing Jim....maybe you can just show them the door? Unless you really like playing with them and want to continue. In my book there really isnt an excuse for cheating! Maybe you can bring a toy pistol along next time and just lay it on the table and one of your other friends can ask what it's for. "It's to keep us all honest!" They might get the message that you are on to them....although cheaters arent really that smart...

Went to swap this morning in Wega. Sold everything I took. (in 2 hours) Well-gave the white americauna rooster to a friend. Saw a ton of people I knew. Talked with cedar post for a while. Good to see you again Mike. And I didn't bring anything home this time.
