jim knows more about still air than me, but at day 3, 105 in a still air for an hour or so should not cause a problem, keep going, those eggs are hardier than you think. forced air 99.5 (me in my GQF 100.0)

So SW, what do you think that butterscotch/black cross is going to produce????? I have a pastel in with my bibbed male and I am curious what is going to happen there........ it will be fun to find out! I am going to see if the calls themselves will go broody and hatch out babies on their own......
fl.gif

Just got a call tonight from my sis's SIL asking if I will hatch out some eggs for her!
ya.gif
AND I found out she has the EE's I want to hatch out!
wee.gif
All I have to do is hatch out a batch of chickies for her now, and in a few weeks hatch out another batch of EE's!!!!

I think it is time to clip the wings of the calls again; I had Checkers fly over the telephone line yesterday......

It is so weird having a duck fly over your head and land on the ground right next to you!

I think I was overly ambitious yesterday, I managed to only make the lemon pie... made the cherry tonight and just waiting for the bananas to ripen so I can make the banana cream.

Good luck on those pics Jim!

Wish I could go to the swap in my backyard!!! Unfortunately I will be waving to all of you from the road on my way to Oshkosh at 5AM......

Keedokes, I bet those babies are just fine!

Can you tell I am HAPPY? Not only for the paycheck but that he is out and doing something! You guys get so crabby when you dont have the constant "good job-here's your paycheck!" stroking that you are used to! I guess we women are used to being under appreciated and not paid! (did I just say that?

Yup--those are my legs! I think I really should have taken a pic of them last night when the bump was 2" up from my shin bone! I guess I will have some better colors in the days to come!
Here is a shot of my baby pigeons that are now fledged!

46457_img_0168.jpg

I let them out today to get some exercise. They dont fly too well yet but I want to be able to free fly them! That will be so neat to see.
Well--gotta head out to finish locking up for the night. All went well with the 4Hers that came tonight. I even had them ride a circle with me leading and then on their own! The girls did great! I am glad that the one in the managerial aspect is more confident that the horseless horse memeber...but she has cow experience and tried to get us to learn the quick knot today...DAM^ I just cannot do that thing!!! So I guess I will be learning something too! always a good thing! Good night all! Terri O

TO... sure hope your legs heal well, hurts just looking at them!
sad.png
I would get banged up when I worked w/horses but I don't think I ever looked that bad on BOTH legs!
tongue.png
Be careful if you free fly those pigeons, they can attract hawks and lead them right to your farm! Our neighbor had pigeons (he even raced them) and had to keep them penned for a few months at a time because of hawks. But he still lost a bunch to them. They are fun to watch though!

D@mn! When my youngest and his friend put that coop together they did it to LAST! I can't get some of the framing out! They sunk a mess of screws and they are impossible to get out. The whole inside was made of scrap wood and scraped windows and screens. I got the windows and screens out... but the frame!!!!

If it wasn't going to be in the way I would leave it! Hummm... may have to rethink my plans.

get just about any book on the subject and read what the temperature should be to incuate just about any north american domestic bird..

that 101F is something that I find only on BYC...

I have a theory where it came from..

It runs right along with the myth that there are different temperature layers in a LG or Hova incubator and some ho-made ones too...

If you say something wrong enough, long enough, it seems to become fact..

I just took my daily trip through the incubation threads.. My equilibrium is all messed up from my shaking my head in disbelief !! LOL where do these people come up with some of that stuff?? LOL

Good Morning All! Shortly will be candleing and taking out the turner. Have some cartons sitting on top of the wood stove to warm them up for the transfer.

Love to see the wind this morning the yard is drying up nicely! Need to get the garden tilled but I'd have to roll the tiller out there on planks to keep it above ground. Hope Bigz fills his tag this morning and can get out of the weather. Not a beautiful morning for sitting. But bet is was yesterday. Bet it was a nice way to spend the day! Jim I try not to shake my head like that cause the rattling noise drives me crazy! Cind sounds like you need a sawsall.

TO glad to hear that the DH is back to work! As far as your legs owie owie owie! And I just gotta take a shot. Winters over you can remove that insulating fur on them!

Now for a very tense 3 -5 days. Holes are all plugged to bring the humidity up. Thanks again Jim for the structions! I warmed the cartons and then put them on a heating pad while candleing pretty bad HUH? Think I need some Demerol! Watching the gauges humidity is coming up, 42% and climbing have to watch the temp too.

Morning All,
I have been up late and too early lately.
Been looking at a horse my client wants, he is a cute QH, but soo thin.. he is being fed cr@p... I think it is mostly bedding type straw, or is an oat hay cover crop on alfalfa.
I think if he gets a clear from the vet on a swollen back fetlock, (he was seen by a vet 2 days ago)...he will be coming home to my clients tonight.

I had a near fatal accident yesterday with the chicks here at the house, I brought them back now that the landlord is no longer
coming through... I have a ceramic heat emitter, with them bumping things around, they knocked it down. It landed on the bedding and burned that, burned a hole through a cardboard flap...
And smoked up the house. Luckily it was only a 40 watt one. No one was hurt, and everyone is still wonderfully healthy.
I removed it and brought out my small clamp light.

I was up late cleaning a saddle for my client for him to sell at the midwest horse fair.
We are going on Saturday, is there a place we want to meet?

Laters
Carol

Good morning! Carol you are lucky you didnt burn down the place! How scary! All this extra heat stuff really freaks me out especially when I have the high powered ones in the barn for the lamb. I turned it off now cause they are big enough but they sure do enjoy it for the first couple of weeks! Please be careful...fire is so scary.
DH was in IL yesterday and in IA today! A real jetsetter...well, a cesnasetter today I guess.
lau.gif
THey took a plane out of Watertown this morning and will fly back tonight...man I thought I was nervous with him doing all that driving...now he is taking a plane
th.gif
Should be a good job for him though; something different all the time...he does have that short attention span thing...
hide.gif

DrH--you should have seen my legs BEFORE the winter coat came off! I wouldnt have taken a pic for sure then. I figure if I would have had long pants and a protective cushion I might not have gotten so bruised...so there!
smack.gif
Sure am glad that you are having such good luck on your eggs! Now for the unnerving part of the actual hatching! Had to laugh at your 'bator neck--I think I have it too.
I tried shutting off the light in the tank brooder last night...chicks were huddled up and really quiet this morning but now that I turned it back on they are cheeping again. Big babies! I guess I will have to wait to move them to the basement for a little bit yet. I kind of wanted to get it all cleaned out in preparation for the Easter hatchlings. Oh well.
I am going to the Horse Fair on Saturday...are you too Becky? It would be fun for all of us to get together for a bit. I am meeting dd19 after she is done with something at school and my 4H kids to see what kind of show stuff they buy for the fair too. I am just hoping that the weather isnt too craptacular!
fl.gif
for no snow at least!
Jim you are going to give yourself a heart attack reading that incubation thread! I really think you should put that quote in your siggy line...then it would be a statement to them without you having to say anything! Wouldnt be any worse than some I have read on here for sure!
Well, guess I'd better get ready for work. Easy day today! Yeah--I am due for an easy one! Have a fantastic day! Terri O
