Holy blustery Friday, Batman. Need to get to Home Depot for some brooder making supplies, but having a hard time working up the will to brave that wind. Think I'll have another glass of milk and read a little more on the forum. I'm sure that ambition will be along...any time now...

Love the pics TO and Hurley. I can only see about half of yours, Hurley

maybe its the puter.

There is a pair of Hooded Mergansers hanging in our creek today. They are so beautiful!!! hoping they swing back in a little while and let me take their pic

I had never seen one before, had to consult the field guide. Had a Blue-winged Teal on the pond a few weeks ago, that's 2 new ducks to add to my 'sighted' list.

Good Afternoon all,

Well we survived the trip, Only half gray

. The chicks are home safely in the brooder, they have water and food, perches and friends. They certainly are cute little buggers,

Thank you dr. HA Ha. Have a few beers and take a well deserved nap.

Before I stopped at Dr. Ha ha's I went t tSC to get the rest of the flock, I read up on golden comets and heard they were getting a shipment today. I lucked out.
Unfortuneatley they were straight run, and apparently no one at tsc knows anything about color breeding/sexing. I thought I read the pullets were darker red in color while the males were almost white, I got the darkest. We shall see. They are all getting along well. In the car they sat on their hand warmers.

I need to feed the starving boys and later I will take some pictures.

Dr. ha ha also provided us with a dozen eggs, The boys can't wait till breakfast.

David

Hi Amyable! I bet we're practically next door neighbors! I'm in Morrison, just north of 96 on W! Is your yard a swamp, too? So happy to find someone close by who loves birds!

What do you have in your yard?

Hey All!! I've finally got my internet connection back!!! I've been without internet since Sunday. Dh had trouble connecting, so he called Charter and they reset/redid our access. After that my computer would not recogonise our home network. I had way to many things to do so I finally got to call Charter yesterday, only to be told that my computer was the problem and I had to contact the manufacturer. Interent went down again today and Dh called Charter and spoke to someone who knew what they were doing and voila! I'm back!!!!! YEAH!!!!

Welcome to the two new people!

DrH-glad your hatching finally happened, but I was sorry for the ones you lost along the way.

Hurley-super cute chickS! Love the Butter Cups....hmmmmmm.....I may have to get some for next year!!

otonoh-the coop looks great!!! I love the bright yellow! Very cheerful! Then hens and will be happy but watch out for Terri! She might sneak in a different color for her "wing" of the coop when your not looking....

If I remember correctly, Gold/Golden Comets are a sex linked breed. The girls are buff to red and the boys are white. Both black and gold comets are sex linked. They all seem to have different "hatchery" names but they are all the same basic sex links-black and red/gold. It sounds like you picked correctly!

Well, everyone is good here. We did not get to much white stuff luckily. The little barnyard and banty mixed chicks are doing well. They also are a sleepy lot. They eat and drink and do chick things but they are fond of sleeping. They must be related to my brother!!!!

I'm going to my first swap tomorrow was a seller. I'm nervous with all the paper work involved to sell chicks but I figure there is a learing curve involved and that the worst thing to happend is that I won't sell anything. I have the paperwork I need to get into the swap, so I'll wing the rest. Im taking the quail, my left over Production Reds and the majority of my Orloffs since I've already picked out the ones I want to keep. I was going to take the barnyard mix and the banties, they are so little and tiny and needy and fluffy. (That is total justification on my part!)
Well, Im' off to the bank for swap cash/change and I've got to get the sale cages all set up for them.

Yup, somebody bought me breakfast.. and I had an omelet.
too bad I have to way to town to eat eggs.. LOL

the goose has a dime sized hole in the shell.. working hard at it yet.. I have 6 new chicks and LOTS of pips..

have to set up a couple more aquarium chick TV"s.

I expanded the brooder in the chicken coop for the fast growing chicks out there.. as soon as the weather breaks and warms up, I will move them to a different pen outside.. I will need the brooder for these new chicks in about a week....

I have a lot of eggs to move into the hatcher yet.. about 14 dozen Java and Delawares..

glad you made it home safely with those chicks , Dave..

Brent, what size bator did you get? I finally got their catalog a couple of days ago.. I didn't get to look at it too long yet..
Is it true that you can clean that bator in the dishwasher?

TO , are all those flower photos from this year? Annie said she saw some Crocus.. I asked her if the geese didn't eat them yet..?

Afternoon Ms.Frizzle and

Glad you found us...visit often and chime right in.

Jim, I bought the Octagon 20 Advance. It was On Sale Online for the same price as the eco 20. It is large enough for 24 hens eggs. Some folks are putting 30 in there. Large enough for me. Not sure when I'm gonna attempt the feat though?

OOOP'S forgot to mention that no, one can't stick it in the dishwasher. They have a warning against that. Someone must of tried that with poor results....

Hi all--SPECIAL welcome to the newbies!!! When I left for work today I had one chick out and one pipped and one zipped!!! I tried to take a picture but cant figure out how to get the date stamp to show up! I found where it is but it wont highlight so I guess I cant try for the contest...now I just got home and 5 chicks are out and a bunch more working at it! i guess I better fire up my brooder too! Man, it seems everyone's birds are hatching early this time!
Yes Jim, those pics were taken that day about 10 minutes before I put them up here! I couldnt believe it when I saw that bloodroot in the woods! I must have missed it last year. My crocuses are already done

THe ducks did a pretty good number on them too but they were beautiful for a few days...
Glad you got the chicks safe David!
Well, I guess I better get a place set for those birdies...none of the buttons are showing any signs of hatching yet...they have until tomorrow night and then are officially LATE! Have a fantastic day! Terri O

(PS) Ms Frizzle--what school do you go to? That sounds like something I would have done!
