Nice job Hurley, Your son is a big helper and I'm sure he will share with all the little ones. I would like to add on to the coop but as soon as I try to do something that includes using HIS tools he steps in and does it.

So I'll be starting that in a week or so

Terri, I do miss those days with the teens and a vacuum

Mine could sleep through most anything. Cold water was sometimes needed.

Starting the prep for tomorrow and wishing for some sunshine here

Went to visit my parents yesterday and celebrated Easter and my Dads 90th birthday with them. Was a good day for Dad so we had a nice visit. He thought it was good too. I brought a custard filled rolled cake with choc. frosting.

I asked him if we should just eat sweets and forget everything else and he was all good with that.

Amyable sure hope he's better soon

I don't think any of you have jungle fowl but was wondering if you had thoughts of when eggs could be expected? We got the pair last Aug. and I think they were about 6-8 weeks old when we got them. Here is a picture of them now. Someone said her comb will be more red when she's ready to lay. IDK ?????

These are some of the new chicks. The only others we had as day old were the meaties and they sure are different chicks.

Morning all, the girls are fine, I have no idea how you can name them, Other than one "Bianca" I can't tell them apart.
I see now I will have to go to wood chips later today or tomorrow, the towel gets soiled 10 minutes after I put it in.
I lowered the light a bit because they were huddling. I will check on them in a few minutes. It is so cute when they try to stay asleep
Now I need to read up on treats to help them grow.

Hi again! Nothing hatching outside but all little ones (and the extra) are accounted for. The "kids" ate 14 eggs for breakfast! Yeah! Now I have room in my fridge...a little. THey say they are making a pie today...oh no--wheat flour all over my kitchen! AAACK!
I will take a pic of the chicks...I have to wash off the front of the tank...it is all smeary from the dog noses...otherwide you will se nothing! There is a really cute brown one in there and a couple of chippies and yellows and the rest black! I guess that is what happens when you put all the lighter colored roos in the bachelor pad! A few of the ones that I took out of the refrigerator even hatched! One hatched from my LF cochin that I thought wasnt "working" too. So when I went out to the coop I gathered up a nest of eggs that were from a broken broody...put them in the bator just to see what might happen....Hmmm.

LOL, yeah, hubby already has hinted that we need another one built for the toys. Gotta get this one finished first, chicks are hatching!

I think your Jungle Fowl arent ready yet...yes she would be much redder in the comb. You can also look at her vent and see if it is moist...check the span of the pin bones too...hopefully you dont have a non-layer!
Back outside to see if I can get something done....maybe plant some seeds? I see a little blue sky! Terri O

what do you mean hurry up and absorb the yolk, you can feed them as soon as they are out of the tray, then they shut up LOL I've found the earlier you feed them the quieter they are and not so nuts in the future

Yes, I have 2 hens and a rooster.. Mine are Ukokkei.. the hens have been laying for a few weeks that I know of.. One of them just chased a broodie (chicken) off of a goose egg and took over that nest yesterday.

I was/am preparing a breeding pen for the trio but now it might be for just the pair..

I do have a couple of their eggs in the bator, but I do not know who the father is..​

Afternoon All!
Well I have had a very busy couple of days, and we are doing most of the major move this weekend. with the good weather and all.
Monday went to look at a horse for my client, Friday went back with him and my niece who loves our little jaunts. He is getting the horse
I will have to go back this next week and pick him up.
Thurs went to go see a pony for my niece, with no knowledge except he is thin from being starved from a previous rehoming failure...

A young lady in Brodhead needed to place a few chickens, so I am holding a pair of cochin bantams for my 4H family until the hen quits coughing.
The chicks in the computer room are getting big... time to move them to a bigger area!

I got myself in the middle of the horse debacle mentioned above, and didn't get to sleep until 3 am.. and didn't get up till about 45 mins ago...
Off to feed chicks and then out to the barn with feed and stuff to burn and take to dump.
