good morning, (yet),
rain... I was wanting to plane some lumber today.. I do it inside the shop., but if it is damp and cold there is no fun in it..

Annie had to go to town, so I told her to go right away and maybe it won't be raining so hard later when she gets home..

Dr H, what are you going to do with all that new spare time now that you won't be pumping water ?? sounds like a win, win situation with you and the farmer. we are still waiting for our d--.dy--,di-- //// levee....berm....

the new goose is still wobbly after a day out of the shell.. I do not think he is going to live.. I tried to get him to drink, but,,,,

well maybe the geese will have better luck with their hatches.. #2 has 3 eggs now.. I am glad, I thought she was finished laying, but she seems to be just starting..

Becky, don't those pheasants peck at each other? My grandson's uncle raises thousands and thousands of them and they have to put goggles/blinders on them.. probably just a large crowded number thing..? He sells them to ranchers out in S.Dakota.. Then they in turn let people from Wisc. come and hunt on their land for a fee..

Amy and Raim, you were talking about blackberry.raspberry/poop.. I should show you the results of such poop by the wild birds.. We have a blackberry patch on the west side of our driveway.. the birds raided it every year, then they would fly up to the electric wires which cross the driveway, and poop on the East side of the driveway.. Now we have the nicest blackberry patch there, also..

a couple years ago, Annie picked 100 pounds of berries in one day.. we made lots of wine that year...

well, this is no longer good morning,, good afternoon.. I am off to find something to eat..

at my parents house we had a big patch of marion berries- on the order of a blackberry- and the one year we had a very good crop. I have a few plants from that patch at our house now, my dad figures that the patch at their house has been there over 100 years now- the house is got to be over 100 years now too... but not my parents

Man what I could do with that many! pies, jams, etc! That's one good woman that will pick that many BB's! Can't even fathom that many! One thing you learn pickin black berries is not to move fast. Oh there's a bunch of nice ones! You always get a quick reminder NOT to move fast. I busted out laughing at the spare time thing. Then I nearly cried realizing how much I have to do. Good luck with that gosling!

Was supposed to rain all day, only a few sprinkles so far but I'm gonna fire up the grill for BBQ'd ribs so we know how this will go.

The cloud of certain doom is slowly lifting, think it's gonna take awhile to leave. But I'm really looking forward to returning to my usual jovial self

Hi All!!
I miss a few days and I can hardly keep up!! I have terrific news! Dh was plinking around on Craigslist and found some 8 foot 4 hole hanging cages for either brids or rabbits. He had feeders and a water system installed in them already. So, we bought 2 secttions, so now I have enough cage space for up to 8 meat rabbits!!!! Yeah!!! I'm so excited! I have been looking for cages that don't cost an arm and a leg and finally found a good deal. Now I just have to get the old Plymouth out of the garage to get the cages all set up in there. Then I have to decided on what breed of rabbit to get. Going back and forth between the Silver Fox, Americans, or Californians. I want to start with a buck and 2-3 does then leave the other cages open for the young after they are weaned and waiting to process.

The Orloffs have been listed on Craigslist so hopefully I can devest myself of more. If anyone is instersted in some, PM me. I also have some 2 week-ish old chicks- 3 Bantam Barred Rock and 5 Bantam Rhode Island Red. These are from exhibition stock so they should be able to be shown if anyone shows or has kids that do. Or knows 4-H kids that are looking for show stock. PM me if your interested in those. The Orloffs are pullets from Privett and Ideal Hatcheries and have been vaccinated for Merick's (sp) and the bantams are straight run since I hatched them.

Other then that, just sitting here waiting for the storm and listening to the wind crash into the house.

Annie has always loved picking berries .. before we met, I worked on a farm where we did trail rides with horses.. Annie and her younger sister used to pick a bunch of berries and give them to the owner of the horses.. then he would let them go on a trail ride.. That is where I met Annie, by the way.. I was so dumb back then, I used to let her ride for nothing,, not realizing that I could have had free berries to eat...LOL

Mulberrries,,, do they grow on trees, but resemble blackberries?? they used to have trees like that on a golf course where I worked in Illinois. Deellicious !! maybe they were bushes pruned to tree shape, IDK..

The sun tried to peek out a couple of times, here..

I gave up on trying to plane lumber.. tomorrow will be a better day..

the gosling died.. I figured it would.. It was not eating or drinking. I think I am going to quit trying to hatch geese in the incubator.. I have four pairs of geese, if they can not do it, then I will go without..

I've got some sort of black berry bramble that comes up in my ditch behind the mailbox. Just noticed it last year, little scraggles, but loads of nice black berries.

My parents have a mulberry tree in Michigan, and my younger sister and I spent so much time climbing in that tree. We would come in and our feet would be stained purple. My mom would make us wash our feet in the tub. We still do the remember when, about the good times we had in that tree.
We have been hatching and selling FBCMarans this spring and it has gone really well. If anyone is interested I am working in Tomah and can meet around that area. Here is our ad on Craiglist-LaCrosse

Hey guys, how long do you keep your eggs out? Or do you refrigerate after you collect? How long do you keep them in the fridge if for some strange reason they aren't immediately gobbled up?
