You are a good mama for putting their safety above your feelings. Still not easy though.

Glad to see you back, FToast!

dkvart, sounds like a wonderful ol' guy. I know he will love letters and pictures from you. DH's grandpa was excited that we got chickens too, must remind them of their generation.

DrH, of course the 'cherub' will be at the Bash. I imagine in a few short years it will morph to 'hellion'.

If one boy is a tornado, 2 are a hurricane! More teeth on the way, bleh.

Today I am forcing DH to help me put together a pen for new adult arrivals. Always at the last minute. Swap tomorrow morn, woohoo!

Hey all,

Sorry haven't been on recently. My grandmother passed away on Tuesday, and her funeral was yesterday. It was very hard, I didn't get to say goodbye. I was suppossed to go out this weekend to see her.

I think the hardest part was seeing my Mom & siblings, whom i'm not on speaking terms with, hurt so much. Was a very hard day.

My heart is heavy, but I think I am ok.

I'm going to go out in the garden and weed my woes away. I hope everyone is doing fine.

Raiquee, My deepest condolences
Jim/ thanks for the info, they maybe going out sooner than later, Sunday it will be 34 degrees at night but then they are going out.
David

Afternoon all!
This is the first time I've had a chance to get on the net today. The littlest pheasant died sometime last night but that was no surprise. The chicks love their new digs and have so much fun running in their little yard. They sing and run and fly and mock fight. They are very put out however that I have not installed a bathing/spa area yet. Hopefully this weekend I can get a chance to make one for them. They are so funny, I was working out by their yard and every time I'd walk by, they all would run over to me and follow me as far as they could. Silly birds!

Jim-thanks for the chick offer! So far Buzzy is doing surpizingly well by him or herself. Peeped like mad when the little one was on her way out but as soon as Little One pasted, Buzzy has been quit. Seems not to be bothered to be an only pheasant. If that changes, I'll let you know. I really appreciate your offer. Thank you so much!

Raiquee-I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Grandmother. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. I lost my mom a little over two years ago and I still miss her everyday. I know how you feel. Some days are a lot harder then others but it does get better.

Afternoon all.

Had a great last day with the ol' boy, noticed as I cast a last glance before walking out the door that he was dabbing at his eyes, 'bout broke my heart. Before I leave I'll visit a couple of times and take along little Murphy our min. schnauzer. My replacement rode with me today and he agreed she is nice, so

that she works out well for him. He said today he won't answer my letters and asked that I send him my new phone number. I gave him my cell number, which is funny since I don't think he can remember my name!

Raiquee, so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

FT glad you are up and running again. Would love to see a photo of your lavender silkies as I've never seen one.

Sure wish we could get more people up here involved in the swaps. Went to this last year and there weren't to many vendors. Nothing worth making a trip for anyway. The Rhinelander swap was alot better. That being said, I don't need anything more. Hubby just went to PO to pick up some more eggs for me. Lavender, Black and split Orpingtons !!! Need those like I need a hole in my head too !!!

One of my tiny little lavender silkies I got in the mail from Ideal is not doing to well today. I don't think it has eaten. Not pooping. I mixed some sugar water with chich saver vitamins today and used a diabetic syringe and dropped tiny drops of water in it's beak. It doesn't open it eyes. I'm afraid I am goint to lose it. Poor Poor little thing !!
The little dutch bantams are so small they look like humming birds. I tried pulverizing the starter crumbles in the food processor but it didn't do much. Guess I'll get out the rolling pin.

Any suggestions for my poor little silkie??? I think I am going to name him Peace. I already told him to rest in peace should he pass while I'm not around.

Another crappy day up here !!!

Yesterday we came home and I see 3 of my 11 guineas are starting to venture out to my 20 acre hay field !!! There has been a fox around here so I'm getting a bit parinoid (sp) !!

Rai I am so sorry to hear about your Grandmother. It is so sad to lose someone so close. Even harder when you didn't get the chance to say goodbye. My heart goes out to you.
hugs.gif

I lost both of my parents 9 years ago and didn't have the chance to say good bye. Alot of you might remember hearing it on the news. My parents were the couple

Herman & Carol Petersen

in Racine that were murdered in their home. A burglary gone bad. We weren't able to have a viewing at the funeral because they were both stabbed numerous times.

I'm sorry to hear that you aren't on speaking terms with your parents but I know things happen. Maybe someday things will be good again. Again I wish you my condolences on the lose of your Grandma.
hugs.gif

Anyway on a brighter note, hubby just got done building me some more breeding pens for my silkies. He can be such a sweetheart !!! And then ................................ sometimes I never hear the end of it !!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Jim when you are done in Mt Horeb you are welcome here !!!
frow.gif
You're going to be very very sorry you told us all that you are building a chicken coop for someone !!!

I want to head to town but don't want to leave my poor silkie chick !!

Raqui, French Toast- sorry to hear about the loss of a loved one. I lost my dad when I was 18 ( many moons ago) and still miss him and wish my kids could have met him, they would have loved him.

Well... my day of chaos has begun. Well not all of it chaos! Went and spent some time with Carol at the farm with her sweet niece who played so nice with my kids that are a year and a half younger that we declared we will have to have playdates this summer! And she gave the kids rides on her gorgeous horse. What a fun day for them, even with the drizzle. Carol and I traded hens- we had ones that the kids could not handle- good layer, just grumpy ... so she swapped for a sweet Buff Orp to add to our little flock. So I took the meanie out, cleaned out the coop this morning, my 12 week old pair have been in a dog kennel in the run all day so when we got back from Carols, I put the 12 week olds in along with the silkie they roughed up a few weeks ago and let all the change sink in. Lots of treats, head of lettuce, strawberrys that were getting soft, dried meal worms, 4 food dishes in coop and run, 2 big water dishes and hope they are all ok. Will check them again a few hours, but not much I can do. Hard to break up fights when they need to figure out their pecking order. I can tell my oldest RSl and the new Buff have had a few pecks at each others combs already. I am sure they will figure it out... right?

Good evening! Man you guys are chatty! Takes quite a while to catch up...but I just loe hearing what everyone is up to! Rainy here...but still kinda warm. I got the dog walk in before the rain and they were having the city wide rummage in Deerfield so I bought 125' of fencing and posts for $40 and a 6x6 chainlink kennel for $50! My new pens are on the way!
THen I came home and dug up plants for the Master Gardener plant sale tomorrow. I hope it is done raining cause I want to go and deliver them and help with the set up as part of my volunteer hours for the year. I will probably be buying some plants too...I can never resist! I hope someone has heirloom garden plants for sale...I am so bad at starting those kind of seeds! They always seem to damp off or my cats get to them! Buying plants just seems easier...but I WILL start my own tomatoes and peppers some day!
THe duck sitting on eggs hatched a chick yesterday! I am hoping that the hen that shares the nest will take the chicks off the nest so the duck waits for the duck eggs! The hen is liking the guinea eggs...Call duck still sitting tight...That turkey nest has got to be rotten by now...but she is still sitting up there. The little ones outside are doing good. The pair of lav banties and 3 others slept UNDER the coop last night! I think they are afraid of the bigger birds--they are kinda mean to them and they had only been apart for 3 days! Darn chickens...

Well, Off to the plant sale--have a great night everyone! Terri O
