Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yeah, there's bobcat in WI. I don't think they're too populated though. Hopefully it doesn't make it's way too the coop. Stinkin' predators!

So any suggestions on how I dispose of all these dead birds? I couldn't do it last night, so I have to figure it out today.

Might have them, DH thinks they would be up north if WI has them.
Heading down to my parents this to pick up the tiller and cut off some tree branches for them. They are down near Burlington so it takes us about 1.5 hrs to get there.

Good morning! I am sad to hear of your attack Frizz! Before you said you had a fenced yard I had to agree with MLH about dogs. Sounds exactly like how a dog would operate. How tall of a fence to do you have? My medium sized dogs easily go over 4' chain link and I had a Border Collie that went over 48" cattle panel. If they see something "fun" on the other side they get pretty determined! Goood idea to set up the trail cam though...at least you might find out what it is/was.

Had a great time chatting in the parking lot of the Piney yesterday! OdrH's son looked adorable covered in ice cream! What a smart little guy! I thought he was 3 but he's only 2...and really tall! Just got a message from Crarol and I will be seeing her about 1 today--cant wait to get the "grand tour" of her new place! OK now you guys might not want to look at the next pictures...these are the cutest things I have EVER seen...you just might end up wanting some for yourselves!
All 10 were in this box that is about 8x10x2!

Most of them started eating right away. THeir dish of crumbles is about 3" wide and 1/2"tall.

And lastly...gotta have a close up!

So thank you thank you thank you Sweetfolly for giving them up to me and thank you Carol for the transport! (see you later!)

And take a look at all the work I accomplished in the garden yesterday...

Yes! I got the plants moved in to the wagon! Now they can make the trek to the garden in style...

Yeah...I just hope they actually get into the ground this morning! Speaking of...better get on that!
Have a fantastic day all! Terri O--seems much more like spring than summer today at least! (bet DrH is cutting trees again *insert shaking finger smiley here*)

ETA: Dooner forgot to tell you what a nice coop you have there...I do see one problem though...if you are out sitting in your yard you wont be able to see your chickies running around doing their best to amuse you!

I think you better take that landscaping out of there and send it along with Carol on her next trip up...then she can deliver it to me and I can put it in my yard (which is in sore need of SOMETHING!)

Oh yea that fan thing...there is a really good post on here...something about "great big ventilation page" She has really good ideas that I have used...maybe you can too? Chickens would much rather be cool than hot, that's for sure!

Had a good mini-meet with TerriO and Carol, got me a Mulberry tree to plant this morning...trying to decide where I want to have it. WELL away from the dog yard. Mulberries...white pawed show dogs? Yeah, not a good mix. Oh, decisions, decisions.

Found someone selling a 4 panel dog kennel for $50, can't beat that. Gotta go pick that up today. Trying to decide if that will be a dog kennel or a chicken kennel.

Funny watching the laying flock now that Damien and a couple of his hens are gone. My new young cockerel is trying to figure out if he's man enough to take over and the hens are kicking his tail feathers. LOL

Better get out and plant that tree before it gets too hot!

H&R, you'll be in my neck of the woods. Burlington is just south of me. You'll be by Cind's neighborhood.
We do have bobcats, & the occasional cougar passing through, but it wasn't a bobcat that got your birds. They would have eaten & dragged the birds away, & not just killed a bunch of birds & left them relatively untouched. What Friz described as the condition the birds were in along with the number of birds dead kinda screams weasel, in my feeble opinion. It doesn't make it any easier, I know, but at least it can give you an idea of how to try to predator-proof your poultry housing.
I sure hope this is the last of your, and everyone's, losses.

I'm glad to hear you have replacements on the way. They will help ease the pain.

Just about to the west side of Waterford and in about 15 min we'll be at my parents house. DS(6) has ants in his pants and keeps asking when we will be there! In the work truck today so all 3 kids are sitting right next to each other and no movie to watch!!!

Brand new here, and in Wisconsin too! Love our state!! Looking forward to learning as much as I can about our chickens. We decided on a learn as we go process and so far is working out pretty well (in other words we still have 10 of 10 chicks
