Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi again, we went two nights without any babies in the chickTV. Not gonna be so tonight.. i just got one set up ro receive the first 8 guinea keets from this hatch.. It started out to be a strong hatch, but it is slowing down awfully quickly.. I think we are about at the tail end of the power outage eggs..

I called a guy way over in Chippewa Falls about a tiller this morning.. I was all set to go get it.. after talking to him, and he telling me that he switched a Briggs for a Techumseh, bolt for bolt, I decided to check out the motors at Fleet & Farm.. Looks like he was correct.. I just have to measure the drive shaft diameter to determine which engine to buy..

engines do not go by HP anymore.. They go by 9 series or 11 series.. who knows what that means?? It is a mute point, because I have to go by the drive shaft diameter anyhow..

as soon as I transfer these chicks to the TV I am going out to tear the tiller apart. looks like the rain will hold off long enough..

Good Morning (if I hurry) and Happy Father's Day!
someone said something about a new crower...... I DS came in and said that one of our new crowers has a funny crow and to come out and see what I think it sounds like, so I went out and listened and I hear "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" LMBO!

it is the funniest crow ever. I'm so trying to get that on video or at least sound. we sat and watched them all for atleast 10 mins to see who it was. its a EE mix. if he continues to crow that way, that just might save him. lol also to be saved (from butcher) is a silkie X EE/brahma girl that REALLY looks like an oreo cookie, black head and tail, white center! lol she's got full feathered feet and the silkie top knot thing but is feathered.
I wish church would have left service at 10:30 (they change to 9:30 in the "summer"). We didn't make it this morning cause we ONLY got 160 critters to care for in the a.m. that is NOT including the 5 kids.

oh well, maybe some day they'll get the hint.
it started raining this a.m. while I was feeding the goat her bottle, lol, she couldn't drink fast enough, it started raining harder and harder (COLD rain) I was telling her to goik faster cause I was getting wet. I think she was telling herself the same thing cause as soon as she was finished she RAN into her house lol
oh and yesterday was a HUGE milestone here, Arrow (the nonbottle feed goat) let me pet her for a long time, usually she dashes off if you just touch her, but I was able to pet her just like I can pet Hazel!

later off to wish my DFather a happy father's day!
PS its no longer good Morning, so GOOD AFTERNOON!

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE DADS

hope you are having a great day. We had DHs kids for lunch and it was fun. I think it isn't raining at the moment but we got mega rain today. Will have to check the rain gauge to see just how much. No watering again today. The pics of the new coops look great and I'm sure all the little chicks will just love them, built with love. Good luck with the tractor parts. Gotta go help DH we are working on the other half of the kitchen now and I'm trying to help as much as I can so we can make it to the Bash.

it's getting closer and can't wait to meet all that can make it. Susie

Happy Fathers day to all the Dads. Hope you are enjoying a good one.
Wish I had paying egg customers. Just took a count and have 12 doz in the fridge. I get a doz a day so they are all still fresh. I'll prolly drop 4 doz by suzies mom tomorrow. Mine always get used by the family and neighbors, however feed costs aren't down for sure.
Potatoes should be sprouting now with the rain today.

Good to hear you should be able to replace the tiller motor Jim. I'm old school hp too! I always want to know what that converts to hp. I know the hp value, cc means nothing to me.

Glad you enjoyed the meal of choice Doc. Hope it tasted goody!

Good to hear some folks will be able to attend the bash that weren't sure before. The time will be quite pleasing, you'll see!

Well sometime between 3:45 yesterday and 4:00 pm today we lost Bert our "roof" chicken.. when he and his girls first arrived they wouldn't come down from the plywood that was on top of the roosting area in the big stall.
He was lying there, and was stiff so sometime last night I think...

The mostly good news one of his girls is sitting on eggs, so hopefully we will have a Bertoo as soon

Hello again everyone.

(Thanks for thinking of me, Dr H!) Sorry I've been gone for awhile...also sorry I'm not reading back over EVERYTHING I've missed.

So, welcome to the newcomers, and good ta see ya all. I've been neglecting many of my usual pursuits because my boyfriend is in town, so I'm spending lots of great time with him (he's from CA, so every minute spent together is gold!). Though right now he's really sick and lying in bed next to me practically vibrating in pain, so any good thoughts that can come our way would be much appreciated. If he's not better by tomorrow it's a trip to the ER for us. I've never seen anyone's eyes get big in pain like this--it's scary, and since he's stubborn he refused to go in today. He missed his first chance to spend time with my extended family, too, at my grandparent's house for Father's Day.

Hope all of you that are fathers had a great day, though! Did anyone get their roos special treats??

One of the Marans chicks that hatched about a month and a half ago turned out to be a little roo, then when we went for a short road trip to visit friends he passed away by being a moron. I was sad, but at least I don't have to figure out what to do with him since I can't have a roo. I wasn't going to keep that particular chick either way, but was going to give it to my Grandma. Now I have to see what the other six EE eggs from Hurley turn out to be--they're due to hatch any day now! Three are spoken for but if more than three turn out to be girls maybe I can give her some of those.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back, and I hope everyone is doing well! From the last two pages I browsed over before posting you seem to be! (Though I'm sorry to hear about your loss, Carol.
