Kee... I think we'll be picking up 41 and heading north from there. We'll be going up Fri. and coming back Sun.

CC... It's about 3 hours but that's not counting construction!

Jim... I want americanas! 2 or 3! (4 if you can't sex them) Guineas are a maybe. If they can he housed with the chickens fine, otherwise we'll have to wait until we can build!

raim.... Italian Beef, hummm, hubby makes it at work, I think it's sliced beef, green peppers, onions and Italian seasoning. It's good and they sell quite a bit of it. Hamburger buns are fine... a chewy bun is better. Get whatever your getting for the BBQ. We can make a "Bun Mountain"!

FT.... That is allot of losses! Hope the little one gets better!

vehicles......! speedometer on the car broke and engine light is on. Truck, needs breaks and the trani is sluggish. The van has an electrical issue that better get fixed Tue. or we may not have anything to pull the trailer !

Well, little miss. broody is starting her last week!
celebrate.gif
We may have little peepers when we get back Sun.! or Mon.

I think she's getting a bit restless, hope she doesn't "break" in her last week! So cute, Matilda (another hen)goes in every day to check on her and talks to her for a while.

Stacy... Your mean!

I would love a couple but I live in southern WI.! Awwwww look at those cute little tufts!

Not to change the subject, but.........I'm having one of those insomniac evenings again, so I thought I'd give all those early birds something to chat about when I finally fall alseep.

Sorry to dig this up. I was looking back on some posts I missed, and I sure wish I had your problems, Bigz! My production reds were pumping out an egg a day each every single day & I also would wind up with several dozen in my frig at a time, passing them on to my mom & other family/friends. Then my DH started selling them at work for me. Then, he started selling them to the DW's of his fellow bandmates. Then their families found about the egg supply. Then late last winter the egg problems began..........
somad.gif

At almost 2 years old, my gals egg shells started getting paler & paler. Then they started getting fragile. Then they only had partial shells on the eggs. Then no shells on the eggs. Then no eggs at all. They had/have plenty of oyster shell offered at all times, and we even mixed it directly in with the food for awhile thinking they just weren't eating it. It might have been that they just weren't getting enough vitamin D from lack of sufficient sunshine over the wintertime, so I bought them a vit. D supplement to add to their water supply. It took quite a few weeks, but I am starting to get an egg here & there again, but to go from 5 eggs a day to 1 every other day is a serious letdown, especially since I now have a pretty long egg customer list. The ladies still take turns going & sitting in the boxes every day, but no eggs. Is this common in the production hybrids, do you think? Or are the hybrid strains still too on the new side to know for certain? I'm sure they were designed to be producers in their youth, and then become dinner. Still, it would be nice to know for sure. They seem very healthy otherwise: good coloring, bright eyes, very quick & alert, definitely no loss in their appetite.......

In any case, I have since learned my lesson. No breaking down & settling for whatever TSC has in stock at the time. I'm sticking to heritage breeds from now on. I just wanted to know if anyone had any opinions/thoughts? On the egg problem, not on corrupting me into a hopeless sufferer of chicken math. DH would disown me for sure. "But honey, with more chickens, we could fill all those egg orders". Hmmmmm, maybe we'd better find a way to make it to the bash. You could all help me corrupt him as well........... *the wheels, they are a turnin'* Anyone got any spare orps?

good evening, again.. that wry neck can sometimes be fixed by holding the chick in the proper position.. the younger the chick, the better results you will have.. I hold them when I am watching TV.. If they struggle a bit, that is so much the better.

another griddle would be OK, but I can do 6 cakes on each one of my griddles.. I don't imagine everybody will get up at the same time.. but maybe we can do eggs on the third one..

guineas live very well with chickens..

I am answering these questions, but I have no recollection of who asked what.. LOL

I am quite sure the oldest (only one left) duckling is a hen.. she is chocolate with a thin white arc on her chest.

Otonoh Dave, I can haul those roosters to the bash for you.. If you can part with them...

...........jiminwisc........

So is it safe to backsideume that there is beer allowed at the park where the bash is being held. If it is I guess I'll be the desginated driver for DH. And I'm sure it is a bring your own beverages of choice right? Other then coffee.

Good Stormy Morning Everyone! Jim if your makin B'fast I'll be in line

If you could bring those roo's from otonoh I would be eternally grateful!

Would save me a trip! So many posts! Think at this rate we'll be over a thousand by the weekend. A lot of losses.

Man it's pouring out there right now! The noodles are just home made egg noodles, don't knock em till you try em! Shower job went very well! Went Home Depot and got nothing on the list I was
somad.gif
Went to Ace and they had everything I needed. Bad lightning better go!

Celtic, you're not the only one with egg problems this year. My birds are doing the same thing, with at least one egg every day with a weak shell that doesn't make it, and very few eggs, usually less than 50% production from birds that should be at 90% now. At first I thought it was the molt, but all but a couple have all their feathers back. It's not their feed and I'm giving vitamins and oyster shell, and they are in the yard every day. I've heard other people saying the same things, though. I wonder if it has something to do with the weird weather we've had this spring. My farrier told me horses are having problems too with shedding, one of mine included. Makes you think.....Hope you got to sleep alright!

Sorry to hear about all the birds that have been lost. FT, tha's too many in one week.

Stacykins YOU are SO BAD! Think the mods ought to assign points for posting baby chick pics that need a home!
gig.gif
Man our cilantro doubled in height yesterday? Gonna have to get some in the freezer today gonna let some go to seed too. Giving away various lettuces already too. Both gardens are going gonzo
ya.gif
Gotta get some ingredients for the Q's this morning going to make a mild batch so everyone will be able to eat it. I know there was more to say but it escapes me at the moment, again. Stay dry people! Where getting closer to not liking each other this weekend!

Jim-I'll take 2 Americaunas if you don't mind. Are they pullets?

DrH-I think I may end up having a Peatwo on my hands. My roo's son, Sterling, is really getting to be a nice boy. He was handled often by DD when he was a chick, so he's really friendly. He's whatever Karl was (maran cross?) and Dominique. He's a silver color, with some really light barring and a cool looking rose comb. Beautiful guy. Hope he makes it to head roo like his daddy was.

DK-Glad to hear you made it to WI ok. Hope you can make 'er to the bash.

So sorry to hear about everyone's losses. I wish animals lived forever, at least the one's I like.

Candled the duckie eggs this morning. We're on day 6 and so far have 11 out of 18 looking good. Probably start tossing clears on day 10, huh? I'll be one happy girl if even 8 hatch, that's what we paid for, but I guess I shouldn't start counting my duckies before they're hatched

.
Yikes! The sky's looking pretty nasty right now. I'm not a fan of big storms at all, especially when DH is at work
hide.gif
. I saw a friend who lives in Wi. Rapids posted that they got big hail a bit ago and we're about in line with him
